Just wondering what I should expect from tranny upgrade as its going in tomorrow on my LLY 4x4, with Quad Power Box, Dynamax Exhaust, True Flow Air Intake... I got the Suncoast level III - some people have told me not to even worry about installing the clutch packs yet as my ride is new, only 1700 miles and wait a little while but put in the shift kit and torque converter...so what will I notice with new tranny upgrade, especially with Power Box and while towing ( I tow a toy hauler - 9000 lbs about 3 weekends out of the month )

clutches are cheap so ...... I think the L3 comes with clutches and Kolene steels? I will have to double check on that.
You are smart to upgrade now before you post something like " Just slipped my trans, now what?"

The Ally will feel near stock with the Stage 3, nice comfortable shifts. When you nail it (providing you have a performance program) the Ally will light the tires during a shift, no bang.

Mike - is that with the clutches or will just the shift kit and triple disc allow for some wheel spinnin fun ?

The Transgo shift kit is the key, Stage 3 Suncoast gives you much more clutch apply area and I like what Joe has done with his design on the C2, and C1 clutches, makes it so much stronger. The Suncoast converter is all there when you decide to have some fun. Lets git her done.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Mike -
Will I have to use the tech 2 with this upgrade ? I dont have access to one and am not sure if this will be a problem or maybe its no big deal ? Thanks

You don't need a Tech 2 for clearing and reseting taps. Find any shop with a SnapOn scanner ( 2001 cartridge update) and you can do it just fine. If your tech has trouble doing it, call me and I'll straighten him out.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Just posting an update here as ive decided to take a trip to Inglewood and see Mike and have him upgrade my tranny. I have the shift kit and triple disc already in hand ( not installed ) and will probably have him do the clutches, filters, and pan as well since ill be there and it just seems easier to do it all the first time. I cant wait to get this done, will be driving down next week -
Mike, thanks again for taking the time and helping me out with this

Mike- What if you don't want stock like shifting? Maybe something with a little more snap. She shifts like a Caddy now, I want to actually FEEL my shifts.
