My RPM's and Speedo have been acting up lately. They are still working, but they are way off (RPM's were showing max of 5000 and min of 4000 today, Speedo was working fine). I thought it was because I had some moisture in a connector somewhere becuase it was only doing it when it rains really hard. They would go back to normal when everything is dry. Now today it was Africa hot (105) and the RPM's were maxed out... All the other gauges were fine.

Any ideas?:help2:

Cluster might be going down. Known GM problem. Mostly people see the speedo way off but the RPMs are fine. I had the speedo off problem.....while parked, it showed 40 mph. Then it would go away, then come back. One time it showed 120 mph while doing 75 on freeway. Another time it wouldnt go pass 30 mph on the speedo...no matter how fast I was driving.

GM replaced it but I was still under 36K back then.

Thanks for the reply BodySurfer... I guess this might be the beginnings of an excuse to upgrade... Warranty is long gone... 400 bucks though, ouch.

Check with JP Customs. They sell the aftermarket style. Nice looking stuff.:)

You can get a rebuilt gauge cluster for about $140.00 but it will need to be programed, could cost up to an additional $100.00. Or you can send yours in to be rebuilt for about the same price ($140) and not have to pay for programing. Do an internet search for instrument cluster or gauge cluster and you'll find several options.
