I am sure there is like a million threads like this one but I want answers specific to my set up. I am currently in Kandahar, Afghanistan and will be moving to Anchorage, AK when I get home. I was a tuner guy I raced a 02 WRX for 4 years but I converted to the dark side and traded my Cummins in for an 02 Duramax and sold the car. Wanted a tuner/tow rig didnt like the 24 valve anyways.

With all that aside I wanna set this beast up I am gonna be rat holing parts over the next year and putting it together when I get home. Any do's and donts, things I can fab or have fabbed that would help. Currently running edge juiced, w/ attitude, straight pipe, and cheese hole air box. :help:

First of all, Thanks for your service to our Country. Most Folks are going with one of the big HP tuners now. TTS, EFI, PPE, Bullydog, and Westers all have tunes that make good HP. You are gonna need a tranny if you plan on going big, and without starting a war, There are 2 manufacturers that the Dmax crowd supports, and some even use a bit of both. Also, you are gonna need some tireod sleeves, and some traction bars.

looking at a suncoast stage IV think I found a jig to fab some traction bars, and what the hell are tie rod sleeves?

Tie rod sleeves are basically a cover for your tie rods. the stockers are like pencils. the sleeves cover the tie rod and don't allow them to bend. Second run I did with my truck at the track I bent a tie rod so bad that the left wheel was pointed at the right one and my day was done. Maybe someone on here can get you pictures of the sleeves. Hope that helps.

Kinda off topic but what was done to your Rex? I had a 05 STi before my D-max and I know all about racing those things!!!

I really enjoy the truck though....but its not quite as fast as the mid 12 sec 4 banger:ro)

Good luck in your quest for power!

Andrew, I too what to thank you for your service to our country. As far as you truck goes, the tranny must be first. Suncoast is good, I'd add a ATS Co-pilot to that as well. As far as tuners go, you might want to consider going with the EFI Live. There are severaly good tuners on this site that can help you. If you have some down time it would be good to get it now and learn the program before you get back, you will be way ahead of the game. I run a TTS extreme tune, it has consistently proven itself at the track and on the dyno. I run twin turbos which I think is the only way to go, but there are single turbo options out there that perform very well, The Aurora 5000 by ATS and BD's turbo for the Dmax. I sure there will be more options in the near future. I also run the MITUSA mechanical lift fuel pump which I'm convinced got me an additional 5/10 of a second in the quarter mile. I was running two buddies this past weekend at the drags in Woodburn Ore and they both have LB7's with the exact same tune as me and BD turbos which at least on the meter make about the same boost, but they run electrial lift pumps which do not put out the pressure my MITUSA does. We would race pretty even until we hit 5th gear and I will pull away to about a 5 to 6 tenths lead because their trucks would start to lay down due to fuel and mine would continue to pull hard. I run 12.4's, 108.++ with that setup and stock CP and stock injectors.:ro)
