Thats the 1st picture I got of it so far. What do you think? The yellow around the fenders is just tape were in the process of installing some bigger fender flares to try and keep it a little more "street legal" anyone have any tips for not getting a ticket? I'm 36 inches to the bottom of the bumper. I was thinking of getting 10,000 GVWR Farm Truck tags http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Mike330R 05-24-2004, 12:00 PM Very nice!

jjs3788 05-24-2004, 09:06 PM Awesome looking truck !!
Hope this helps.
Class M vehicle can not exceed 28 inches to the vehicles side frame rails or either of the bumpers.
Class E with manufacturers rating or registered GVW of 10,000 lbs or less is 28 inches to frame rails or either bumper.
Class E with manufacturers rating or registered GVW of more than 10,000 lbs but less than 18,000 is no more than 30 inches to the same spots ( unless used for spraying agricultural crops, then its 32 inches )
To register as a farm truck, it must be a class E vehicle. You also must certify you are a farmer and your vehicle is a farm truck and specify its proposed use.
The vehicle is also not supposed to be used for any purpose other than farm related activities.
All that info is straight out of the Maryland Transportation Article (vehicle laws)
Burner 05-25-2004, 12:58 AM yes.... gears....what gears? BTW, truck looks good.

So if I get class E 10,000 - 18,000 GVW I'm aloud 30 inches to frame rails or either bumper? So does that mean all of them have to be under 30 or just as long as one of them is? Frame rails are about 28 but rear bumper is a little higher then 34 inches on level ground. I'm scared to take it out on the road until I know my sh*t incase I get pulled over http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
GrooveCityFlexin 05-25-2004, 09:47 AM I've only put about 200 miles on it since I got it lifted, so I'm sticking with the stock 3.73 gears for now, seems to be just as fast as it did before I was damn impressed. Havent pulled anything yet though. You think I'm going to need lower gears?
By the way thanks for all the info jjs3788
Burner 05-25-2004, 10:18 AM Get out the ol'e calculatorerrer and tell me what ratio you're running as opossed to stock. I'm bettting that you will get better MPG, less stress on the trans and better take-off with 4.10's...heck maybe even a 4.55 set?

mahalkita 05-25-2004, 11:55 AM Look real nice your truck (would be probaly no problem to drive it here on the street in Louisiana). You should have 4.65 gears (in theory) to compensate for the bigger tires and have the same ratio as before. The higher the ratio (toothcount) the weaker the differential gets because each tooth will get smaller and smaller....
GrooveCityFlexin 05-25-2004, 12:05 PM I was hoping I wasnt going to have to change my gears just because of the cost. You think I'll run into any problems without changing them? Or should I just go ahead and switch it now before I do any damage. I work for my dads boat marina and at times I tow boat/trailer weights up to 10k - 12k pounds usually not over 8k though. If I do need to change them have any recomendations on where I should get them from?
se7enracing 05-25-2004, 01:07 PM GrooveCity - Nice truck... Have to say, you can run without the gears BUT if you want the same dependability that the truck was built for, you should probably gear down.. Like Burner said, 4.55 would work best but you could probably get away with 4.10s with the Alli. Those Nittos are sweet But heavy and huge. The lower gears will get it going alot better.. Have a friend with a Furd PS with 38s - went through 2 trannys (I know - not allis but..) before he bought new gears - went with the right gearing now he has no problem towing all day long with his 12 in lift.. (Of course he wants a D/A now!)... Anyway, you can get away with it as is, just depends on how long you want your tranny to last. The alli is strong but NOT IMPOSSIBLE to break. Just my .02. Randys is a good place to order the gears from if you have a good shop that can put them in for you...OR if you are really really patient and good with the wrenches and have the right tools for gear changing (NOT FOR ME THANKS!)...

jjs3788 05-26-2004, 12:07 AM No problem, according to the transportation article neither the frame rails nor the bumpers can be over the specified height.
Where in Md. are you ?
GrooveCityFlexin 05-26-2004, 11:07 AM On the eastern shore in a town called Cambridge. I think I'm going to put my rear bumper back in the stock holes and that should put me at about 30.5 to 31 inches. Front bumper is fine and so are the frame rails. Do I need a DOT number when I'm over 10,000 GVW?
jjs3788 05-26-2004, 10:19 PM No DOT number is needed. I believe thats for 26,000 lbs and over.
I know where you are ( kinda ), I go to a track in Easton called The Landing MX Park, to ride ATV's
Voodoo 05-26-2004, 10:35 PM Sweet truck! I would change your gears to 4.56, you will be glad you did.
GrooveCityFlexin 05-27-2004, 10:02 AM jjs3788, I'm about 20 minutes from where you ride just on the other side of the Choptank Bridge.
Voodoo, Sweet truck, is that where you live? Looks beautiful, I love Florida planning on moving there one day to open another Marine dealership selling offshore boats like I do here. You think I can get them front shocks like you got on yours from mine? I've seen a few trucks around with them but have no idea where to get them. Also what will happen to my fuel mileage with 4.56's. I was driving it yesterday and got into it pretty hard and I wasnt to impressed.
GrooveCityFlexin 05-27-2004, 01:04 PM None of you guys are interested in buying it are you? i just got some bad news from the insurance company. I dont know what I'm going to do now. Its damn near done and was about to go on the road. Only 3300 miles on it.
Don't mean to beat you up but doing those kinds of big mods requires a lot of research before beginning, as you have found.
Is it a problem with the mods that you are having insurance problems or something personal?
GrooveCityFlexin 05-27-2004, 01:21 PM Yeah well I haven't been an angel in the insurance companys eyes. And all my insurance has been paid for through the business. Well after seeing the truck it got canceled today so now I cant drive it. And I cant afford to put it back stock, nor would I really want it stock. So my only option is to sell it I guess. I love the truck but cant afford to pay my own insurance either. The worst part is I've spent damn near 10 grand on acessories. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif Can you think of anything to help me? Trade you for the H2 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Bummer. The only part of an H2 I have is the wheels.
GrooveCityFlexin 05-27-2004, 01:46 PM what am I gonna do?
