Can't find in the manual... how much fluid does it take to change?

For a regular drain and fill:

Stock shallow pan capacity-7.4 qts when drained.
Large pan capacity-7.4 qts. + 3.2 qts.=10.6 qts.

For a complete disassembled tranny:
Total capacity-(dry system) shallow pan=12.7 qts.
Total capacity-(dry system) deep pan=15.9 qts.

Mine took 8 quarts - drained, changed external filter and refilled with TranSynd. Remember to clean and reinstall the magnet on the top of the filter.

Are you draining and filling? Allison stock pan capacity is 7.4 Qts, as stated by BIG DIPPER.

If you are flushing and filling, complete system capacity is 12.7 Qts. for flushing info, go to: http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1130&PN=1
