I dont know, maybe many folk wontbe intrested, but i always enjoy reading others X mile reports....I finished ticking my 1st 1000 miles on my Duramax this morning. Truck is now about 30 miles over 25k.
Below is a breakdown of my pros, cons, and in betweens...Enjoy.
LIKES-
DURAMAX!! This is one hell of an engine. I dont really "punch it" and the pull of the D/A is impressive. I love the sound of a good diesel, but being quiet is just as nice and engine & sound proofing used are a nice medium.
Allison-INCREDIBLE! Everyone should have access to this.
Interior- This was a big factor in my purchase. Ive always felt the interior is very clean in appereance.Cant speak for Dodge, but Fords interior seems a bit more rough/unfinished in appearnce. For some im sure its not a biggie, as their pickup is their work vechile, and may have a seperate vechile for personal use, but this will be both for me, so i wanted some niceness in there.....After a long day on the farm, its great to step into this. The seats/ride are very comfortable, kinda feel like im in caddy or something. Also, Chevy/GMC have i think byfar best stock radio you can get. I was playing some Linkin Park, and put the auto eq on ROCK, and i thought i had a full out $5000.00 sound system in it....http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big%20Smile.gif
4x4- Tho i havent used it, i love the on the fly setup for 4x4. If im in mud or whatever, i dont want to have to get out and lock in my hubs....(FORDhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif)
I love this color to. It might be a bit more work to keep spotless, but even dirty color still looks incredible...
Dislikes-Fuel mileage has been less the stellar. My last tank was pretty gas mileage friendly, w/several 14-15-16 mile runs... And i still only got 15.8mpg
Whatever the 45-50mph & up vibration is in my steering wheel. Noone that has driven it cant really say if its the bigger (285) tires or something driveline related.
The steering wheel rub/clunk/squeek when turning left while going slow. Dealer lubed bearing, still does it, tho not as loud...
In betweens- 1st gear & reverse seem crazy low. I dont mind the low R so much, but if i slow down for turning car and it drops to 1, kinda takes a min to get back goin....
This is more of a peronsal thing im sure, but there seems to a button for everything. Every day seems like i find something new....
Ive gone over some rough rd joints/bumps (30-35mph) the back end feels like it comes off the ground and shifts one way or another in that split sec...kinda a little WTF
The locking doors once out of Park. While it is a great safety feature espeically for families, im used to shiftin to N, slowly coasting, and getting out just as its stopping. Now i got to slow down, stop, park, & out. Nothing serious, just will take some getting use to.
A few other smaller misc. things that i think are more paranoia on my part then anything else...
Door panel is doin a little rattling...i was afarid of this when they install my new tow mirror...
Alright, well i think thats everything...if not ill edit it in...Later-Adam
