I completely agree with Dipper, that's the most cobbled together rat's nest I've seen under a hood in a while...
I would think at the very least, you guys could come up with a replacement inter-cooler tube instead of cobbling a piece of rubber on there. A guy could go on all day here... I hope it at least performs half way decent...

Wow! Tough crowd! I'll be sure to not post any preliminary pics of anything I do. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

Carterkraft, thanks for the pics. I enjoy looking at different types of installs. Finished, preliminary, cobbled, whatever. It gets my imagination going.

Trippin, thanks..... some people just have to whine. It will get more organized. The install was finished on Friday at 5:30am so yea it could use some work.

Ox...... give us a little slack, this isn't exactly replacing your intake.

DIESEL 5, Quad used to sell a kit that they manufactured for the Cummins that was every bit of that quality. Also if you go out to your truck and look under that little black box that says 6.6 Duramax, that is were the turbo is. It's not just hanging out on the side of the block waiting to be plumbed into another one. JK.

Fact of the matter is...had he not called me out in the initial post I wouldn't have even responded....so...I sure wouldn't expect all you third part people to agree anyway.....maybe I should go back and highlight my name so you can see that, huh.

....and this is from a vendor, not a do it yourselfer.....I would expect a little better craftmanship.....but hey, if you want your truck to look like that....more power to ya..

Maybe instead of preliminary you should have said "slapped together prototype". Really, how long has Quad been blowin smoke about this big turbo? Over a year as I recall. It's all good to come a post pics of something in progress. But when you're posting something on behalf of a big shot vendor with big money to back a big project he's been talking up for over a year, you'd think it wouldn't look like it was put together in an autozone parking lot....If cartercraft or trippin, or anyone that didn't talk it up so much for that matter, posted pics like that and said this is what he put together on his neighbors' truck this weekend, it'd be different. Either way it's just an opinion. I'll be watching for a reputable source for a bigger turbo...B-D power and ATS come to mind. I guess we'll see what the future holds...

How long was the Atomic bomb worked on and talked about? And even when they were dropped, The American leadership was not at all sure if they would work. But as we all know now, They did work.

As with this project, it has been talked about for a while. (I am not too sure it has been over a year, but I`m not sure) But that don`t make it any easier just because Quad bragged or talked about it.

I don`t see how you could compare these pictures to something you or anyone could buy at auto zone and stick it together in the parking lot. That is about the biggest stretch I`ve heard hear in a long time.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Looks like a Atomic dirty bomb went off under the hood of that truck.

What else did you expect from him.He is so use to copycatting and playing catch up . Not taking the led on anything original.

Now he went out and built a hairdryer ,supposedly, he's been talking up for nearly a year. But hey don't shoot the messenger,he's just a friend.

Next up he'll be broadcasting useless unproven numbers as he will have injectors inplanted too in that Duramax. So you'll need the whole package to go with the new cobble he's now selling.Last I heard the injectors were useless also. Maybe he'll throw them in for free to clear the shelves.

Everything is work in progress and he's always fine tuning with no results till customers get tired of his song and dance .

Dipper what I see is someone looking for a beta version for a discount, why bother .

Damn you nut, I thought you said you would keep quiet if I told you where you could get some of those tips!!! Just so you guys all know, nut's planning to put the same tips on his truck, only gold, yes gold plated!!!

Eric, I agree, the CA goodies make things tougher however, I think there's more than enough cobble there for a fed truck.

Mike, were you actually around when fat man and little boy were built and dropped? If so, you didn't look like you were over 60 to me. And what...ah, nevermind....like Reggie told Dipper...why bother.

This is all par for the coarse if you ask me...

Look I couldn't resist the jab at BigDipper, I appolagize(sp).
Here are some preliminary photos of the big (technical term) turbo on Quads red truck (not the one at the Dyno Day BigDipper).

This was to say that the post "People in Question" that BigDipper started last week was unfounded, implying something that just did not happen. I am sure the majority of you guys missed it as it was promptly deleted, as it should have been. Never the less I have stooped to his level. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

Also preliminary is just that, the start of something. For those of you that think you could whip one up in the Autozone parking lot, or if you think you could swing the whole kit in a couple of weeks, all I can say is why haven't you done it? I am not sure but I don't think you will have a problem selling them.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I would like to say that I can handle all the stomping you guys can give out, you have to realize that you are just a username, nothing more. If you ever see me at a event come over and tell me how bad a of a job I am doing and you don't believe any of the dyno charts (from a reputable event) that I post, I will get you a beer out of the cooler and we can watch our trucks race, pull, or whatever and have a good time. There are plenty of other things I could do with my time than try to make 7500 lb trucks go fast.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

I don't quite think your at my level, I can spellhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif.....Bottom line, you have an agenda here....you are not here to inform, but only to promote....you said yourself that someone told you to post this stuff. There are others here who value the input of people who have readily tried products and how satisfied they are with them. You have a Ford, how can you help in that situation. As for the other thread that got deleted....the Diesel Stop has a thread talking about a certain truck, with a picture, talking about the numbers they put down....the party in question posted just below it confirming it....go read it. And the thread was actually not even directed to you....if I remember correctly it didn't have your name in it, but since you feel so important....

People have a problem with my responses here, not a problem....ALTHOUGH...as I stated before, I would not have even been in here had he not directed it to me...I have no interest in anything Quad is selling. This probably hurts my chances of being promoted to Moderator...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Higher boost = higher cylinder pressures. I don't know of a gauge that reads cylinder pressure but once it gets so high the head bolts stretch and the head lifts.

From my own experience, a leaky headgasket is not a catastrophic event... at least mine or others wasn't. Just a pressurized coolant tank and sporadic overflows.

The first attempt is rarely the last. If you want to see cobble, just check out some of my air traps when we were chasing air/vapor sources in the fuel filters. I reworked that thing so many times, it is unreal. I actually find it nice to know I'm not the only one that has to work around issues on occation and that even people who do it for a living have to as well. I think every new product has an ugly phase, but we just don't see it. I redo parts of my stuff to make it look better all the time.
