I just read on the MBRP website that after installing the 5 inch cat back sysytem, the spare tire may no longer fit. (pn S6024AL) Is this true? and has anyone encountered this problem?

5" turbo back. Spare tire did not even need to be removed for install. Clearance if fine. No worries. If your adding a tip you in for one hell of a time. The 6" tips come stamped too small from the factory and getting them on is a huge pain. Not to mention that the pipe needs to be "circumsized" as my truck upfitter put it.

Are those 5" MBRP kits stainless? I am thinking I may have to upgrade......

5" kits do not come in stainless. Aluminized steel only. The turbo back kit is about $599 and the tip will run you an aditional $75. Include 1 hour labor if you don't want to install yourself. As noted before, tip is not a 5 min add-on!!!

I bought this 5" system for $429 delivered to my door and it comes with a Stainless Steel 5" tip. Don't fallow the instruction Just Start at the turbo and work to the back of the truck, You have to cut one piece depending on the length of your truck or if you don't want to run the muffler you don't cut that piece and run straight back 5". 4" down tube and 5" the rest. It twists and turns (adjusts) so with a heat shield you can fit a 35" spare tire. It is aluminized steel.

Hey xr680r
How does that bad boy sound! I am looking for some serious growl!

I thought it would be loud but, with the muffler on you don't hear much at all in the cab till the turbo spools. Then it growls some but, still not what I was thinking. Straight through might be more what you are looking for. I was afraid of drone but, none. I haven't towed yet so, baybe then? The nice thing with this setup is you have flexability to go straight (till you cut the extra off the mid pipe) Catless with muffler (that is mine now) or cat back. The muffler is a glass pack type (I don't know if it has any glass in it) and I put the muffler the free flowing direction. The pipe coming out the back in huge! Makes the stock pipe look like it was a straw. I haven't put the tip on yet and I am thinking S/S 6" tip for looks.

xr680r,

It's a hollow core muffler with no packing materials. If you look thru it you'll see the open chamber in the middle.

Duramax88,

You'll be OK with a stock size tire or even a size or two larger. We haven't had any tire issues on all the ones we have sold unless it was upgraded in size quite a bit. The 5 to 5 and the 5 to 6 inch tips we sell slip on easily without the issues that Riccas mentioned etc.

I purchased from RPM outlet and they scrwewd up my order and their customer service is terrible. When it comes down to it they never did completely resolve the problem. I cannot reccomend buying from them. That system pictured in the link is confusing, so read everything carefully. I was supposed to get the stainless version, but it never happened.

5" will fit with a 265 spare. It's tight but it fits.
