: Take a look at my door panel water liners...
Roegs 05-22-2004, 11:21 PM The door panel water liners on my '03 crew cab keep falling below the door panel as shown below. I can slide them back up again into the panel, but they slide down again in a few hundred miles. Something does not seem right with this. All 4 doors look like this. Is it normal?

SaguaroKid 05-22-2004, 11:36 PM That ain't right, take er back to the dealer..........
SteveNorCal 05-23-2004, 12:10 AM I wondered how long before someone would bring this up.
I noticed this problem on my 03' K1500 Silverado and took it back to the dealer. They said I was the first to bring this up (yeah right) and they contacted the rep and he says it is "normal" and nothing to be done about it. Back years ago they used to use a paper liner that had some really sticky black goop that held it in place. Now they use this plastic liner without any black goop. Must be "another" cost cutting thing for GM. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Down.gif (Oh yeah, my Dmax is the same way too!)Edited by: SteveNorCal
hdmax 05-23-2004, 12:18 AM My hangs down about 3/4" below the plastic an carpet area, I would think you would want it that way. Now if it moves around, that`s a different story.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
I guess when we spend in the area of $38,000 we have to find something to bit@h an belly ache about.
Roegs 05-23-2004, 12:22 AM I looked in my shop manual this evening, and they mentioned that the liner should be attached to the door with some 3M adhesive. I'm guessing that the factory did not use the adhesive during assembly. I could go back to the dealer, but I really would rather not have someone else inside the doors. Sometimes they don't get them back together as good as they came apart...

They would most likely send you back to the body shop to get it fixed, hell I would just stop at the local auto parts store and buy a tool that removes the door panel, I have one I bought a couple years ago and it cost me around $8.00.
dmaxalliTech 05-23-2004, 08:00 PM every truck I have seen has them somewhat exposed.. I just looked at mine and it doeshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Eric,
Could you look into this?? Like I was told, the GM area Rep here said "it's normal and no fix is needed". Just doesn't seem right the way it's dropped down (mostly at the front corner) on both my Silverado's and can be repositioned back into place, but then will drop down again. To me this just seems NOT to be good finish on the trim. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif
smshiver 05-24-2004, 01:36 AM I have an '04 and mine is exposed about 3/4" at the bottom of the door panel.
Dmax affair 05-24-2004, 03:47 AM Every time after washing my truck I dry my door jambs..and I have to
re-possition the door liner as it seems to fall out of place. I never had
this problem with my 01 2500HD.

I'd contact GM rep myself and tell him if he says that if it is normal to put it in writting so you can put it on TV for everyone to see. Here in San Antonio one of our Channels has a Trouble Shooter Reporter who would be happy to air such a problem. Sounds to me likr guys having this problem are just victims of a disgruntled GM employee and GM would rather fix it that have it become public.
ratlover 05-24-2004, 09:22 AM It should hang a bit.....yank one of the door pannles and see if the plastic liner things holes are have the plastic retainer peices that hold the door and the panel together going through em.
Looks like yours have fallen quite a bit, mine just hang down a smidge.
