I am asking this question for a friend who drives a Ford. He has an 04' and his intercooler line blew off because of an overboost. It sprayed abouta 1/4 cup of oil all over the engine compartment. His dealer said that the oil is normal in the line. I say B.S. I checked mine with 34k miles and it is dry as can be. Could this be a closed loop crankcase ventilation? I know my VW TDI had some oil in the intercooler and it had a variable vane turbo.

Nope it's perfectly normal in one of those Fords. They have a blow-by/vac valve in the intercooler line and it weeeps a little.
