: 2001 Chevy 8100 kills an 2004 Cummings 600
8100hammer 05-22-2004, 09:28 PM Went to the track to day. An killed a 04 cummings 600!!! Yes,Yes, you read right, I kill a cummings 600 with the truck in my sig. I ran a 15.42 at 87.5mph to his 15.54 at 89.0mph.
I have to say that the one duramax that was there, jucied and all, was eatting corvettes(Z06) and soup-up stangs for snacks. I am thinking I am pistons and a turbo away from killing my first DMAX.
And my hats off to you guys in this form, showing me the ways of lauching in 4x4. brake to floor, gas pedal to floor, let motor sit against the TC, release brake on last yellow. thanks for the wisdom.
Just thought you diesel guys should know, take the GM nannie off and put in good tune. the 8100 vortec become quite a motor. I had 4 people thank me for killing the cummings. Edited by: 8100hammer
GMCSLEHD 05-22-2004, 09:49 PM Sweet!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif Was the Cummins running power adders?
Josh
8100hammer 05-23-2004, 09:50 AM a very mild one, he waiting to do the tranny first. before he turns up the power. He is part of peak performance company, It was their DMAX that was there.
Chevyfreek 05-24-2004, 02:49 PM Congrats on the win. Those Dodge's just don't have the transmissions to handle big power. I think that is the weakest link in those trucks....
ak408cobra 03-17-2005, 01:18 AM sorry to burst your bubble but my hemi ran a 15.1 stock with 800 miles on the clock. that was at sea leval though.
WilliamBos 03-17-2005, 10:06 PM Thats pretty slow for a 426................thought they ran faster than that..............
Take care
Will
vortecfcar 03-17-2005, 11:10 PM you dont need pistons until they break....I bet with 10 lbs of turbocharged intercooled boost you'd suprise yourself. STS STS STS STS.
did you get the secret message?

Thanks for sharing your kills! :D
8100hammer 03-18-2005, 09:08 AM Yeah that with a westers tune and failing crankshaft sensor pulling timing out. Which beat a "chipped turbo diesel".
Funny how the engine most of you say is dog, the one I have continuely gets faster and faster, while making better and better mpg. jee I just beat a turbocharged motor, with my N/A-what most of you call a underpower dog of motor.
Please tell me why an chevy BBC is crap?? Is it because is powers the fastest street and trucks in the US?? (2004 HotRod pump gas drags)
Slick 03-18-2005, 09:35 AM They tell you good kill, and then you start giving them crap again.:badidea: :wtf1:
Weren't you the one who said don't brag about your kills unless it was a
SuperCharged or Turbo Camaro, Vette, etc.
On Edit: I don't think I have seen many on this board say the 8.1 was a bad motor. Most say it is quite powerful, just get bad mileage.
By the way nice kill on the Cummins.
Max Power 03-18-2005, 09:42 AM Nice Kill.
What was that durmax running?
Mike L. 03-18-2005, 11:26 AM They tell you good kill, and then you start giving them crap again.:badidea: :wtf1:

Some people go through life with a rain cloud hanging over their head. :confuzeld
NICE KILL !
Burner 03-19-2005, 04:19 AM Nice kill Hammer. Uh, is that Diesel classified as an F1 type vehicle? I'm guessing that it is? Maybe I'm wrong......but I thought you said something about not posting a kill unless it was against an F1 type or something? ......... At least you beat a "Diesel Truck" and not something with a reving motor like a Honda, Camery, NSX, Porshe, Mazda or something. I guess you'll need to beat the Mustangs and Vetts in order to catch up to the "other" Diesels.......well, like the Duramax that was running that day?
:iamlost:
..... Hammer, the 8.1 isn't a slug. Don't bite when people tell you that it is.... I see more 8.1 GM's out than I do Dodge and Ford, put together! .........And don't even get started about "off-shore" racing. GM has that one wrapped up as well. :D
jon72 03-19-2005, 05:51 AM Not to swell anyones head but I watched an 8.1 chain up against a Hemi a V10 then a PowerStroke dragged them back(on pavement)without even spinning a tire. But blew his frontend to pieces on the PowerStroke(PowerStroke broke too)A CTD and Duramax was next he would of had us too!The secret was in his tires.
8100hammer 03-19-2005, 07:34 AM No Tripping and diesel5 were not saying good kill, this happen damn near a year ago. Just bring it back up to stir the pot.
Thanks aways.
The Duramax was running a edge box of some sort, the guy was not to talkive about it. Was too happy put the smackdown on a yellow Z06 a worthy foe. Saw him again at the end fo the year(oct) He had "something" straped in the back, looked like a cooler with hoses running out it. He was running damn close to the 12.9 mark. Also that same cummins at the end of the year was running a 14.88 to my 14.72.
8100hammer 03-19-2005, 07:46 AM And for those that can't read the first post is dated 05-23-2004. So I did not just post this.
Second I did not say dmax should be beat on F1 cars. that is just stupid. Basically what I said guys with a Dmax which is a Forced Induction motor (F.I.) should try running against similar sized F.I. Gasser For a better match up, and report those kills and deaths. Not beating some half-ton with a 300something C.I. engine, that barely makes over 230hp at the wheels. Hardly a worthy foe.
DIESEL 5 03-19-2005, 12:11 PM No Tripping and diesel5 were not saying good kill, this happen damn near a year ago. Just bring it back up to stir the pot.
Hammer,
I didn't realize you posted this kill a year ago, if you noticed there were three posts ahead of mine.....so my bad.
Mike L, Trippin & I decided to show some class and congratulate you despite the fact that you gave me a hard time on my SS kill.
WE DO NOT WANT TO STIR THE POT, SO JUST DROP IT.
Again I say
GOOD KILL
Got Juice? 03-19-2005, 12:18 PM 1/4 Mile Kills boil down to Power to weight Ratios, Traction, R/T and luck.
8.1L is a good engine. $$$ spent on mods being equal though, the Diesel engine is more amenable to change.
Perhaps the nice part about a Diesel is you can still pull down close to 20 mpg when you are finished 'gassing' everyone at the track!
Max Payne 03-19-2005, 04:29 PM Who makes the "Cummings"?:iamwithst
hannaco 03-20-2005, 09:39 AM I have no idea what a Cummings is. But, I understand that Dodge does use a Cummins motor in some sort of truck.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
_nar_ 03-20-2005, 04:14 PM Hammer, it wasn't them that brought it back up, it was this guy that doesn't know the difference between a cummins and a hammy. And instead of saying something like someone said in another thread along the lines of "what, big bad 8.1 pick on poor little 5.9" they just said good kill. Calm down man.
sorry to burst your bubble but my hemi ran a 15.1 stock with 800 miles on the clock. that was at sea leval though.
Burner 03-20-2005, 05:16 PM ............ uuuummm, Hammy and Ricer snack.
8100hammer 03-20-2005, 10:20 PM Yes I know how to spell cummins, its a poke of fun when I say cummings, a joke of sorts.
I think you guys need to calm down.
