Nope shouldn't need a pittman arm puller. Just sawzall or good cutoff wheel on a hand grinder. You don't have to take anything on the steering off other than remove the bolts on the pittman and idler arm to put the support kit on cognito provides you with. Also make sure you've got a good 1/2" drive drill with plenty of an assortment of drill bits and a good sharpener. Hope this helps. I'm sure I forgot a few things but hopefully some fellow cognito guys will chime in.

I just finished my 7" Cognito lift last week. The only other thing you need is a torsion bar unloading tool. It can be done without it but its alot quicker with it. If you know anyone at a GM dealer you may be able to barrow one for the weekend. As soon as the weather is good I will post some pics of my truck. The kent Moore tool # is J-36202

Gear puller works great for that. I've done 2 ifs lifts with a $15 universal gear puller from autozone. Might save you a little money.

36mm socket for the axles. torsion bar tool, sawzall with a metal blade, and a very good 1/2" metal bit for drilling the holes for strut braces for the front lift support.it will take you a while to drill those 4 holes. you really almost will not need the directions except for when to open which hardware package.

Unibit works quite well for the holes. DO NOT use a gear puller... had one slip off crossmember and came close to hitting boss' wife in the head..... she was 20 feet away.

also something that help me was to have other instructions from other companys...print off a couple copys of each.....make sure all the pieces are there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ups lost a piece on mine, small prybars are helpul
a die grinder...back up wrenches...do the air bags at the same time as they will fit into the u-bolts better imo...tourque specs..camera...beer
its really easy just time consuming plan around 20hrs
make sure you go over and touque everything especially your u-bolts a coulpe days after

Make sure you have plenty of beer ahead of time. Wives/girlfriends get mad when you get the car all greasy going to the liquor store in the middle of truck projects!

Once they ride in the newly lifted buggy they'll forget about the grease... for a minute.

edit: Did not mean to step on anyone's toes about not using gear puller, I used to use one till above mentioned incident.
