are there any modifications that gm or anybody else recommends before using biodiesel in a 6.5?

Get an extra fuel filter ready biodiesel solvates petrolem resins.

It may also accelerate the dry rot on fuel lines and the injector return lines.

I am getting ready to convert my 94 chevy k1500 6.5 to run on WVO or waste vegtable oil and can't wait to stop getting ripped off on the rising fuel prices.

I also have plans for water injection and propane injection on WVO so hopefully my truck will be one hot, eco-friendly,wallet saving monster.

This week I am getting my trans rebuilt-4l80e with heavy duty parts, and putting on a 3.5-4" exhaust. Working on a PMD coooler remote too.

Just wish I had more time to get these done because until I get the WVO going I feel that I am throwing more money away.

TonyB,

Is the WVO methyl/ethyl esterfied or are you going to burn it staight?

The WVO is straight filtered 5 micron veggie oil.

Also there are some guys running unheated WVO/diesel combos up to the 85% WVO/diesel ratio. They are reporting no problems and some even get better performance. I may start off with the WVO/diesel combo just so I can start using the WVO till I get the time to finish the WVO conversion. I would start off at 50%/50% then increase to make sure that the engine likes the combo first. The combo is good for warmer temps so at least that will buy me some time for the conversion.

Several other 6.2 and pre-93 6.5 turbo have been done but none that I know of with the electronic IP. It will be interesting....

tonyb: what heavy duty parts are you getting built into your 4l-80e? I think a rebuild of mine is in the near future.

I also am working on my 4" exhaust. I can't decide which downpipe to get though. I don't know if the 4" will fit. It is kinda tight up there.

I am just planning on running B2 or B20 from our local supplier.

Will a normal aftermarket inline fuel/water filter work with biodiesel?

Steiner,

I am not exactly sure, but it is the clutches, bands and servo, along with the heaviest torque convertor they make. A friend is rebuilding it for me and he knows transmissions and is modding it up for me.

I ordered an exhaust kit from this ebay guy : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2479276437&catego ry=33630

I get it monday so I will let you what I think of the system then. By the feedback from his sales it seems to be a great deal. The system is made by peninsular(sp.?) in Montana. For a lifetime system that is a great price. It includes the 3.5" downpipe and then from the muffler on it is 4". I don't think the 4" will fit for the downpipe.

Regular inline filters should work fine.

I bought a 10 foot section of 4" exhaust pipe and a couple of elbows from a semi truck exhaust store. So far i have less than 100 dollars wrapped up in it. I just need to finish welding it.

Sounds like you got a good deal. I am unfortunately time short right now and am trying at the same time to get things going so I just went with a pre-made system.

BTW I am originally from the Cleveland area. I live about 1.5 hours from Toledo now.
