: Moon visor opinions
WHTDMAX06 07-27-2006, 08:25 PM Well im thinking of getting a moon visor (the one with the lights) on my white 06 sierra ecsb because i have no cab lights and i have a sunroof. Opinions??? Or should i get the factory cab lights?? Thanks in advance.
T-Rex 07-27-2006, 08:38 PM Opinion:
They look tacky and are noisy...
jmbfin 07-27-2006, 08:51 PM I would go with the factory cab lights.
TurboBeagleBuggy 07-27-2006, 09:06 PM Get the newer visor, the "Lunar" model, looks good and matches the body lines better.
hill1430 07-27-2006, 09:15 PM I am in the process of installing a moon visor right now. had several and never had a noise problem.
Max Power 07-27-2006, 09:25 PM They cost you MPG and they are noisy. My buddy has one and I hate riding in his truck it is too noisy.
WHTDMAX06 07-27-2006, 09:40 PM Ive never heard of them being "noisy" but thats something to consider does anyone have pics of them on silverados or sierras?? I cant find any online.
gearhead 07-28-2006, 09:14 AM I had one on my "95" and it was very very noisy.
minisub 07-28-2006, 09:35 AM The one on my '95 caused the roof to rot out along the top side of the windshield. One of the bolt holes rotted out too, flaps like crazy now. Needs to come off, never to return.
Walldo 07-28-2006, 10:26 AM Had a nice Lund moon visor on an 90 F-250, lots of wind noise and it like to catch the wind from passing 18 wheelers, I though it was going to get ripped off the cab a couple of times... never again..
WHTDMAX06 07-28-2006, 05:35 PM How are they noisy??? like only at 80mph or at 40mph?? And how are they really noisy when they have holes in the back to relieve pressure?
hill1430 07-28-2006, 06:28 PM I will post pic's as soon as I install.
Riccas 07-28-2006, 06:33 PM A truck baseball cap.
Timmy2500 07-28-2006, 06:46 PM I have the Lunar visor looks great, not any louder than it was before I put the visor on
Timmy2500 07-28-2006, 06:51 PM Here is some pics
WHTDMAX06 07-29-2006, 03:38 PM I am pretty sure im getting one of these i think it looks good!! Did you have to drill any holes in the roof?? or did it mount like behind the door weatherstripping?? Thanks for the pics.

Mount - 2 spots on roof and behind weather stripping on each side of truck
hill1430 07-31-2006, 02:24 AM Just installed the Lund Moon Visor.
Z71 Grizzly 08-03-2006, 09:55 PM Looks good. Did you do it yourself or have someone do it?
hill1430 08-04-2006, 05:16 PM Painted and installed by me.:D
minisub 08-04-2006, 09:25 PM Hill - Nice paint job. Looks good. I actually like the look of the visor but....
Nobody has mentioned the fact that you need to stay way back of the stop line or crane out the side window when you're first at many lights with a visor. I didn't mind the looks of the one on my '95, but it came with it. I still wouldn't put one on.
TurboBeagleBuggy 08-05-2006, 11:28 PM You short people ***** too much :D , I can see everything just fine, of course my head is against the roof, the visor has no affect on my line of sight. :D

:lol2:
silverado04 09-10-2006, 06:53 PM I had a Lunar on my 05 and really liked it, noise was very little to none..
the Lunar Style is by far my pick.. as mentioned before it follows the body lines better. (looks so good GM should make them a option!)
Tanc Crusher 09-10-2006, 07:22 PM Almost was going to get one for my 03 2500 Avalanche since about a month ago the palstic brackets that flip the built in air deflector down broke. One one week the other the next. Cheap plastic pieces. Guess what that piece is not a part you can get seperate. You have to buy the whole rail assembly for $875.00. I think not. It would be easier to cut the air deflector out and chuck it out in the woods with a few other parts that just don't need to be there. Anyways I had time over the labor day weekend and had to shave the palstic down screww on a piece of metel from a lawnboy pull start coil. pop rivet back in and grease it a bit. It works but does look like hell. All I needed was two 4 dollar pieces of plastic. So if I ended keeping I plan on a wind deflector and throw on some marker lights. Glad I am getting rid of this when the 07 HD comes in. It will be someone elses problem. Can't wait to see thier face when they take it to a dealer for service if it fails. Thank you Chevrolet/GM.

dmaxlover 09-10-2006, 07:26 PM I had a moon visor on my old silverado, and will never put another one on. There noisey, the rear view mirror would vibrate, mileage went down, and bulbs didn't last long. They do look nice tho.
aka108 09-10-2006, 08:11 PM Was a lot of those things in the 1950. Factory installed on some, dealer installed on others. Think my Grandmother had one on her 1950 Olds 88. Never was a fan of them myself.

What kind of Visor are you talking about here? thought this thread was on visors? if you have one that cost $875 please post pictures of this gold item..

No line of sight problems.
Tanc Crusher 09-11-2006, 06:31 PM The $875 would be what GM/Chevrolet would charge me so I could get the two plastic pieces that had broken on the sun roof. The items sure would not cost more than $10.00 a piece but they are not seperate items that can be replaced. You have to buy the whole sunroof mechanism/rails/window/and frame to get the items. Under warrenty they would remove the whole sunroof and install a new complete assembly. When all one would have to do is drill at two pop rivets and pop rivet in the new plastic brackets. If I get the time I will post pics of what I am talking about. But I will soon not have the avalanche no more when the new 2500hd gets here.
