I was stationary on a down grade for about 2 minutes with the engine idling and the gear selector in 'D'. When the road was clear, I released the foot brake and applied power, but there was no drive to the rear axle. I noticed that the DIC displayed 'Shift Range Disabled'. I let the truck roll down the slope and when I got to the bottom, tried shifting into other forward gears, nothing happened. I stopped the engine and restarted it and everything is now back to normal.


Any clues? Will this abnormality be stored in the 'Black Box'? How long will it be stored (if there) before the code is overwritten. I am just thinking about how soon I should report the problem to the dealer.

If there is a code stored it will stay stored until cleared ...


As far as what happened that would be you best place to start have it scanned ...
