Two weeks ago I posted that I had just had my injectors replaced at 40,000 miles. Got my truck back and noticed it had low coolant. I added coolant and waited two weeks to check again. The fluid level was down about a half inch from where I marked it.

I brought to the dealer, told them of the problem, tested the truck, nothing wrong. Checked fluid this week, the fluid has not moved. Everything seems o.k.

Yesterday I was letting truck idle outside my shop, for probably 10-15 minutes. Go to take off, kick the truck down, she laid down white smoke pretty heavy for twenty - thirty feet. The smoke was NOT from the tires. Someone on this forum advised me that it might be an injector cup seal leak. Maybe so, but how does the dealer test that.

Is this a dirty MAF or is it a possible coolant leak. I have seen my friends F**D smoke white before and his truck is normal. Is this normal after idleing that long?

Thanks for the info.

We had one head replaced at 85,000 miles. We noticed coolant loss and white smoke then took it to the dealer. Dealers contracted machine shop confirmed head was warped causing blown head gasket. Dealer replaced the head under warranty. We got our injectors replaced at 99,100 miles by the same dealer after noticing increased black smoke. We have also noticed an increase in oil consumption since the head was changed out. Although we are close to the end of our warranty the dealer put the truck on a oil consumption documentation program. I now have to monitor the oil much more closely along with fuel economy. No white or black smoke right now but we'll see what happens.

Although unlikely turbo seals can go out causing engine oil to burn in the exhaust.

I don't know if this matters, I have an 03' with 44,000 miles on it. Do these low miles factor in to head replacement?

What did they tell you is normal oil consumption for our trucks? On my wife's Jimmy it was a quart of usage in less than 1000 miles. For some reason I am thinking our trucks are more like a quart every 500 miles. (This is their guidline and not mine.) I expect little to no usage in 3k to 5k miles) So far mine has not used any.

1 qt per 100 hours is considered normal under normal use. Only head problems are those that had blown gasket and overheated/warped.

Are you loosing coolant? Unburnt fuel will also smoke white

What causes unburned fuel?

I cleaned my MAF with un-chlorinated parts cleaner. The truck still smokes. I thought I was losing coolant, but I marked a line with a sharpie, three weeks later, no change in level. JK suggested a injector cup seal leak, How do you test for that?

No matter what, I'm sure it is something minor.I would just like the problem fixed.

Thanks for the help.

sticking injector will cause unburnt fuel... more precisely, an injector that is leaking past the tip, dripping fuel into cyls
