2006 LBZ GMC

When crusing along, lets say 60 or so on the freeway, and I really get on the loud pedal the truck normally starts pulling like a freight train, occasionally dropping down a gear.

But a few times (like 3 or 4) it has felt like the trans can't decide what gear to go to and cuts power to the motor. This last for 1-2 seconds and then it picks a gear and goes just fine. Literally 1-2 seconds with no power, and then it flies.

Is this normal? Everything seems fine overall, no codes or anything else weird goin' on. I'm thinking the truck can do 1 gear downshifts with no hesitation but dropping two or more requires a bit more time.

Thanks
Justin

Mine has started doing this last night. It runs fine other than that.

You guys have to roll into the throttle, not mash it. With the torque and VVT of these trucks, it will pull even if it is in too low of a gear.
The Allison Tranny is a big heavy beast and I don't think it likes to change gears too quickly, hence the hesitation when you mash the throttle and ask it to downshift.

MINE TOO!!!! I can usually step on it and it will set me back in the seat. Last night I was on my way home behind some slow guy, got a piece of straight road, hammered it and pulled out, I just sat there for a couple seconds and thought WTF then.......the LBZ let loose!!!!

Yeah mine feels like its slipping when in 3rd before it shifts to 4th. When it does shift it shifts harder than the rest of the gears. I'm thinking I need to stop by the dealer or should i wait till it gets worse so I know they can duplicated it.
