With unprecedented stock on the ground for this time of the model year, sales of the big stuff really slow the last 6 weeks, where do you think the incentives are going? Staying the same? Getting sweeter? Will they offer more cash but take away the 0% 60 mos.? Or offer 72 mos. 0% for the first time? Rumors of more cash back on in stock Tahoes, Yukons, and Suburbans are circulating (with the gas situation this makes sense) what do y'all think is gonna happen June 1st? Let's speculate...or rather make an educated guess. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

If things keep going like they are, maybe they will give an econo box car with the purchase of a big truck. They did it back in the 70's gas crunch to move the gas guzzlers.................JB.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I figure the program can't get any worse...They run too much of a risk of continuing to sit on '04 inventory. I don't think "Truckfest" (because of gas $) was the windfall in ridding themselves of inventory they thought it was going to be. Are they going to extend "Truckfest" or call it something else and increase the rebates???? Thoughts???

I have an out in that there is a truck within 100 miles that is the exact truck I ordered including color, other than it is + XM and has chrome wheels. Niether one is a big deal. Question is...do I jump on it this week, or not sweat it...figuring the incentives will get better, if nothing else, after the 1st? Edited by: Rippem

If GM follows history they will begin an aggressive campaign to clear all 2004's especially with a Chevy's minor restyle on the hoods and the extra options available for 2005's like sunroof, etc.

Memorial day weekend is always a good car sales weekend and it is the end of the month.............

All this works to the buyers advantage not the dealers.

As far as wheels......dealers will swap for the PYO-aluminums.....it is no big deal to do.............XM is nice to have anyway.

So maybe wait and hope it get's better, which it probably will or take a chance and get it sooner............

Either way you should be fine..................

There are NO more duramax pickups available here in my area, so no incentives for that one. The 2005s diesels wont get any cheaper because they are the only ones saving at least some money on fuel bills (diesel is a lot cheaper!). IMHO only the gassers will be sold cheap, but thats not the ones we want.
But thats all just guessing... more important is that GM fixed the problems with the LLY turbo

Guys, this may sound stupid, but while were on the topic of money, I have a question.

I've got an '04 and I am looking forward to seeing the new style in '06 or '07? (whichever year the new body style comes out) Now here comes the question...

I paid $33,000 and will likely get between $26-$28 for mine on a trade. If I get an all decked out truck for $50,000, does that mean I will only be financing between 32k and 34k? It seems too good to be true, because in a couple of years I will not have paid that much of my truck off. Will I get stuck with a whole lot of negative equity? My calculations and GM's finance calculator look good on paper, but that doesn't always mean it is good.

Well all I'm saying is if you've not gotten a serial number from your dealer, your truck wasn't built.

It's getting close to shut down for re-tooling the new model year and as another poster has said, there aren't any Dmax's in this neck of the woods either.

Your dealer should be able to access the VOMS system to find the status of your order on Monday, if it's not been built and you want a truck this year, well....

I only say that because I sold cars for awhile and you never know when one's going to go off the lot, waiting for a possibly better rebate is gambling you won't get it this year at all.

But then that's a choice only you can make.

StraitDiesel,

PM me the %rate, term and total amount paid and your monthly payment - I'll email you over the amortization schedule so you will know exactly what your payoff is on your loan for the entire term... That way you can tell what your payoff is when the 06 OR the 07 comes out - depending on which one has the restyle you are looking for...

It pays to be in the finance biz....

Well I'm not Howard, but I can tell you that the invoice is available if you've got a VIN.

He may not have used the VOMS system to get the VIN. The dealers get notices outside of that system and the invoice is normally timed to arrive at the dealer about the same time as the truck.

The information is available. Call him and tell him to get on his computer and get it. If he claims there's no way, tell him you want to speak to his Zone Rep if you want to get after him.

I don't know if Howard can get the invoice or not, he got me shipping info on mine tho...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

i really hope they continue like last year and add more rebates after memorial day and independence days. i got 4550 dollars off our yukon and the same off dad's D/A. i am looking to pick one up in late june/early july. hopefully it will bring good things. though, there must be a LOT of stock up north, because down here in FL, there is hardly ANYTHING with a D/A in it http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

gator, was that straight GM rebate money, or rebate money combined with other discounts (your GM card ect.). I could no doubt wait till after the 1st to sign the paperwork to see if there's more $, but I don't want to loose 0% 60mos. ya know? Unless the rebate is like 5K it won't pay to loose the 0% (if they take it away).

BTW...as confirmed by the "little bird" my truck is built and bayed, will be coming all the way by truck, will definitely leave this week, perhaps as early as Wed.!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

that was national rebate plus a regional rebate. i didnt have a GM card included in that. this price was aug of 03 when we bought the vehicles. but as eeryone says here, it is a gamble. i personally dont see GM cutting rebates at all untill all the stock is sold.

Last night a "little birdie" told me my new baby had been shipped. Then this morning my dealer called to tell me the same thing. He also wanted to know when I wanted to come in to fill out the loan paperwork. My guess is that he wants me to come in and get everything done before the first so they won't have to pay me any more in rebates. Am I being paranoid? I've been told over and over that rebates are paid when you take delivery, but some how I think they are going to stick it to me. Advice? Comments?

Rippem
05-27-2004, 12:37 AM
it's not about that, the rebates are corporate $. they just want your deal on this months business at the dealer for a better lookin' month. they'll worry about next month looking good after the 1st of June. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

swake
05-27-2004, 12:48 AM
But if the rebates go up in June, do you think he will add the difference to our already negotiated price?

Rippem
05-27-2004, 09:18 AM
yes...(subtract additional rebate) He may try to bluff you that this will not be the case. B.S. Just wants your 40K+ deal on this months bottom line. You get the rebates in effect when you sign and take delivery....period. You choose when that is...Friday (present deal)...or Tuesday, taking a chance that the rebates get larger or something. If they don't you still have your existing deal. (it won't go less incentives) If the man wants you closed this month for his own reasons, make it clear it's your choice, and if it's that important hold him hostage for a couple free oil changes or something. Sounds like dirty pool, but what if the rebate goes up $1000 Monday at midnight and you've already signed Fri. (this month)?

I just talked to my dealer. My truck is built and in transit but won't be here before the first. He is going to paper deliver it and wait to see what happens with the rebates and if they are better he'll date it june delivery, if they get worse he is going to date it may, can't lose. just talked to my finance manager...0% is GONE beyond 36 mo. for June. He doesn't know about the rebate $ program yet...It'll take another $500 in rebate ($4000 total) and 2.9%, to clearly beat $1000/ 0% 60 mos. in overall cost of note and pmt.

I just closed a deal on an LLY. I heard the same as Rippem on the 0%.

The other problem is the Durmax is in such high demand you cannot get your hands on a truck. I spent 12 days finding this one and had to go out of state to get it.

I could have ordered a truck but it would have been an 05 and no rebates or special interest rates would apply. The dealer told me I could have an 05 in 6-8 wks but I call BS. According to him they will be making no more 04 Duramax after June.

I would tell you to buy one now if you find what you like. I wasn't willing to take the chance on the incentives. Even if they do get better the longer I waited the less chance I had finding the truck I wanted.

Besides I already feel like I stole the truck!!!!
