If you live where you get some heat I say go with the white, makes a big diff here in AZ on how hot the old grocery getter gets during those dry heat days.

I like white... Brother and dad both have black, and they are harder to keep clean and show scratches way worse.

White always looks clean, doesn't show dents/scratches, not to mention how bright and shiny it looks :) Plus titanium is used in making the pigment for white paint, hense it must be a "stronger" truck ):h

Get WHITE - Black is a lot harder to keep clean and very hot in the Summer. Even up here in Michigan, the A/C will have a harder time keeping it cool in the Summer.

White is a lot easier to keep clean and is a lot cooler in the Summer.

I've had my share of black cars and they are clean only for about 5 minutes after you wash them. The white dust in the air will immediately start to settle on the car and will make it look dirty very quickly. I do not plan on getting another black car or truck for these reasons.

Last 3 trucks have been white. I'll stick with the white. Thay ARE a lot cooler in the summer heat.

Both are hard to Keep clean But the Black truck scratches real easy and it's white underneath so it shows real bad. Me I swap off every time I buy a Truck. Black, White, then back to Black. I'm back in white now.

Black looks GREAT when it's clean but unless you plan on washing it at least once a week say goodbye to that. White definately doesn't need to be washed as often to look nice. In fact mine's so dirty right now it's almost white.

I have a BLACK one :ro) and loved it when I picked it up, but now I have 30000 miles on it in 3 months and have wished I got a White one or a Silver one like my 2001. It shows every little thing that touchs it like bugs, little road stones as well as sand or anything. So if I had to do it again I would NOT go black and go with Sivler like my other one. Just FYI but otherwise I love the Truck with the LBZ even though its in the shop now with Turbo Problems.

We have black and love it BUT it is a severe PITA to keep looking good. As for temp, dealer here put identical thermometers in side-by-side black/white trucks and let them sit. Opened them up in the late afternoon and there was a 3 (three) degree difference. (Black hotter.) Nobody believed they could be that close so he repeated it next day, switched thermometers, and guess what? Difference was 3 (three) degrees. And that is here in FL (colon of the country) which at this time of year averages over 90 and the afternoon sun is very strong.

So, anecdotes aside, I don't think b/w makes much difference temp wise. We really prefer the looks of black, but I mention that it is HUGE PITA to keep looking good?

HUGE! I hate trying to keep up with it! Whether it's worth it or not is a personal choice. My wife picked it! But then again she didn't argue at all about buying the truck!

Go with black.
Anything is a PITA to keep clean, so you might as well at least have a good looking truck for your efforts.

Black looks really good, but I dont have the time or energy to keep it looking that way. White looks as good and is easy to keep looking that way. I prefer a nice white truck!

I'm sure you've made up your mind from the preceding posts, but i wanted to add my $.02. Everything said above, from my experience, is true. Black = hard to clean and if you're in a hot climate, it does get hotter than white. Now, having said that look to the left under my name.

IMHO, white looks like a service truck only if ya don't trick it out at least just a little bit . . .

FWIW - I've had both & I'll never go back to black for all the reasons listed above on both sides of the fence of this discussion. -

I Agree on almost all of the above.

Black looks the nicest when it looks nice. Lot's of work. Too hot.

If you plan on keeping it a long time, black will show more "paint age" than most other colors.

White is plain stock. Looks great with door handles, tint and maybe wheels.
Much cooler in hot temps and lot's of sun.

Now, for the people who are passionate about keeping it clean and polished and have the resources and the time to do it, they should own black because they will make it turn heads.

Had both, one black and two white trucks. White never seems to shine like you want it to, shows all the bugs and tar from the road. Black is a bite to keep clean but it sure does look great though with a little work.;)

White trucks are dime a dozen....

Go with black.

Yes they are and that's why I got one...better price. :D

In answer to your question, though, I prefer white simply because it looks cleaner longer. It's a good palate for accessorizing, too. Pinstripes, graphics, etc...seem to pop on a white truck. Don't get me wrong, black is a great color and with a good paint job, seems bottomless. And chrome accessories really pop on a black truck. It's just that black, and most dark colors for that matter - my '95 modified ImpalaSS is a good example - is a real biatch to keep clean and not show swirl marks. GM factory paint jobs are just that...factory. So you get a lot of orange peel. Further, the number of color coats and clear coats don't lend themselves to that glossy and bottomless paint job.

I'd go with white but after you've read all the posts here, you'll probably be no closer to a definitive answer than you were before you posted!

I had a Regular Cab shortbox Z71 in black. It was hard to keep clean and the scratches it showed annoyed me. But when it was clean, it looked so good.

When I was shopping for a D-Max, I swore not to get black. Knowing how much work a regular cab was to keep clean, the thought of a crew cab scared the beejeezus outta me. But, when I saw that big black beast sitting there all detailed up for me, I knew which way I would go.

Go black !!!

I have a white 3500 as you will see and I can tell you it is much easier to keep clean then a dark color. I had a dark blue 1500HD before I got this 3500 and it was always dirty what a pain. The white also is cooler in the summer.

If you want to babify your truck and spent endless hours trying to keep it looking decent, get black. If you want something practical that will look decent even after some serious time off the blacktop and is easy to maintain get white or birch. Wealthy people love black limos because the hired help maintains them. I've owned vehicles for 54 years in about every color you can imagine. Have not owned a dark colored one for years and would advise anyone to stay away from red, black, dark green and dark blue unless you have nothing better to do with you time than diddle with the vehicle.

White! - my T/A is black. I never uncover it cause I hate to clean it! I'm a stickler for a perfectly detailed car.

I orderd black against everyone's advice and I hate it! When clean no other color looks even close,;) but all it takes is an asshole with a leaf blower or a street sweeper to ruin your 1-2 houres of effort. These trucks are big and hard to wash. Some times I even have to go to the car wash and pressure wash it before even touching it with a wash mit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-:t BLACK:badidea:

That's for sure !! I noticed that to. If you try to wash one of these wagons in any kind of heat, you can't move fast enuff to have it all dried off before the sun dries the water leaving nasty water spots all over. And those spots are hard to polish out when dried on by the sun - especially the roof and hood !!!

I still don't regret getting black, even if I spend a truck payment a month keeping it clean. With all the chrome on her now, the contrasting colors make it look wicked !! White and chrome don't contrast enuff.........

Get white. The black ones are lazy.

This is true... more time in the sun with a black truck will generate more heat. We all know what heat does... puts you right to sleep. Thus in a scientifically proven theory black trucks = laziness.

You will be happy with your choice.

As I mentioned earlier, I used to own a Black Trans Am and it was a total pain to keep it looking good. All it took was 5 minutes parked in the driveway and the white dust would settle on it making it look like it needed washing again.

as ChevyRacing48 mentioned, the dried water spots were an absolute BCensoredTCH to polish off. The best way I found was to put a little vinegar in the rinse water to counteract the hardness in the water and dry it off as quickly as possible. But even then, it was still a total PITA!-:t

I stay away from ALL dark colors for the same reasons.

BLACK. My first truck (a 1999 GMC Z-71) was metallic green, in '03 when I was in the market for a 2500HD I wanted the summit white CC Dmax 4x4 but couldn't affort it so I had to SETTLE for an onyx black CC 4x4 (a gasser) when I FINALLY was able to get the Dmax, I searched for a black one and only one dealership here had one. Recently I was looking into getting an '06 LBZ and test drove a summit white one (once again no black available) and I didn't like it as much. I do wash my truck at least once a week and it's garage kept. I live in New Mexico and the heat isn't that bad even after it sits in the sun at work all day. Just my .02 cents.

PS if you live in the desert I'd stay away from metallic colors because the UV rays tend to deteriorate the clear coat sooner.
