: Looking for Most Intense Off-Road Light

I'm in the market for a set of lights to mount on the tuck that will have the most brilliant, and blinding, instant-on light I can mount on my truck. I know the various HID lights can get very intense, by the warm up period before reaching maximum intensity something to be avoided.

Any recomendations?

You will not be disapointed.

I had the 170 Strikers and they would light up the pavement for just under 1/4 mile. You could see the color of the pavement that far!. I orginally wanted the 240 Blitz but they wouldnt fit in my pre-runner.
The cool thing is the lights have different filters (covers) available and they are adjustable like a mag light.

One more thing, make sure you have the switch ready to turn them off when someone is coming towards you on the road, they tend to pull over real quick !

Hella Rallye 4000's in Eurobeam with 135's in them.

Good light pattern and intensity.

With some work, I think I could get the skyview to mount up in the bed of the truck with a remote inside to control the beam!

Thanks for the replies. I'll be looking into both the LightForce and The Hella gear.

I think the skyview would cause some clearance issue when mounted the roof of my Yukon, since passing under every highway overpass would be a gut-check.

I have the 240's mounted on my truck... they are a bit large - almost appear cartoonishly evil....

These are the 240XGT (non-HID)... you can see they stick out forward a bit - so if i ever do pound a deer - they'll get sacrificed. I know it looks funny with one yellow and one clear - but it works very nicely at night. The yellow cover has a diffuser in it that spreads the yellow light out to the sides nicely - and picks up the animal eyes, etc. The clear one lets the other light run way out to where my high beams end - so it begins to light up the road at that point. With the clear covers on these things are damn near SPOT lights and not floods... i think THREE would be the optimal number on the front of the truck...but there aint much room left..

I originally had them mounted on a westin bullbar - have to admit - it was functional but looked a bit dorky... but then - hey... so do I. I have pics of that if you are interested...

I think for what the 240's cost, I would modify the bumper to get them behind the front edge of the bumper. This way when your D' eats some venison, your lights are saved

I'm thinking of mounting some lights on my frame rails to give light to the sides. If there is one thing I hate is to be out at the ranch trying to make a turn in a tight spot and I can see if the side of my truck is about to get ripped out by a tree or fence post.

These light worked great for me. I had the same situation. I had them mounted to my prerunner bar and angled out to the left and right.

I don't doubt that they may be the brightest guns out there, with a great light pattern. However, for my application, I need an instant-on capability, no warm-up. What is the time to max output like?

It takes 4-5 seconds to max output but the light is still way more intense from the moment you turn them on than a non HID lamp.
You should definately go to a Hella dealer and see the difference, you will not be disappointed..
