I took a trip today, about 130 miles, truck was smooth as silk, but I did notice a noise I can only relate it to an engine were the lifters have calapsed,it only does it when you press the pedal to keep the speed the same,or when the cruise is set and it comes and goes,it isnt a vibration, and it isnt the ussual diesel clatter,it dont last very long, but if you press the pedal just to hold the speed the same you can hear it,anyone eles experience this?

Hoot you have the truck close to mine, have you heard this?

Thanks

Same truck but no experience resembling what you describe. Hauled across the country about 8 times so far and been Florida to Pa. about as many.

Everything I hear inspires confidence.

Mine does it. It's diesel clatter. I get small doses of it depending on how I accelerate. I believe its normal. I know the clatter of the older no HPCR Cummins. This is exactly that coming on a little during acceleration. They quieted the clatter by preinjecting a little. I think it's just not a perfect process and the Cummins is a different animal.

DG,

Have you run yours in the cold yet? Mine clatters pretty loud... not at startup or idle but under accleration... only for a minute or two till she warms up some.

Yes it does clatter quite loud when it is cold, just til it warms up a bit.

I went to the dealer today and drove the sister truck to this one,it is exactly the same truck only silver and it did the same thing under ecceleration,so I felt better,I did notice that truck shifts different than mine it stays in first quite a bit longer than mine,I know mine has a reflash out there but not sure I want it..
