What is the towing capacity of the receiver hitch that comes with the trailer package on 06' 2500HDs?

Look above the 7-way connector on the hitch. It'll give you all the info. I think it's 1200/12000 wd rated 750/10000 without wd. I upgraded mine a while back and forgot the stocker's numbers.

I don't even think it was that high. I would ditch it for something better.

I think it only has a 1000 WD rating.

GM claims 12,000 lbs, I doubt it. Mine was bent up enough from the factory that I had a ***** of a time getting enough tilt for my WD hitch. I quickly pitched the factory in favor of a Reese Titan Class V rated for 14,000 lbs and 1700 tongue wt WD with a class V hitch, 12,000/1200 tongue wt as weight carrying hitch. Has a 2.5" opening so it needs a sleave for a normal hitch.

Not near as high as what I have pulled with it...

Looked at one of my work trucks, the label on the stocker says 1000# tongue/7500 carrying without weight distribution and 1500# tongue/12000 carrying with weight distribution. Take it for what it is worth, I replaced mine after I tweeked the stocker (just like many others).

thanks for the info. I guess, an upgraded hitch is on my list of future mods.
