just replaced the original style oil cooler hoses with self made ss braided lines. i had no problems removing the old fittings from the block. i've read some reports from some of the guy's having trouble installing the new flare fittings, instead of using a 90 deg. male fitting i used a 90 deg female fitting with 2 close brass nipples , this worked out real good , i had plenty of room to turn the fittings without having to cut or bend any wrenches. it turned out to be a good thing that i changed the hoses out when i did . when i removed the tubes from the cooler the one side fell a part in my hand due to corrosion. the tube would probably broke any day due to road vibration, then it would have been time for a new engine. thank god the chevy dealer up the road had the replacement hose on the shelf it was a shame to have to cut the knew hose but oh well the whole job cost me the price of the knew hose 80.00 i was able to make the braided hose at work . the whole job took me about an 1 1/2 hours to complete not too bad that included an oil change

One just has to love the 90 degree fitting that comes off the oil filter adapter. That thing darn near looks like a banjo fitting.

It kinda makes a guy wonder about the communication between departments at GM, -doesn't it?

"Oh man, this don't fit!, it's gonna hit the crossover pipe.................-put a 90 on it, -it'll fit!"
