Bought the truck used a year ago, but finally had our first opportunity to tow one of the Jeeps this past weekend. Towed from ABQ up to Silverton, CO - only 250 miles one way (roughly) but 550 between Durango and Silverton is 50 miles of steep mountain highway.

The truck performed flawlessly. While I highly doubt the Jeep (a '97 TJ) and trailer (standard 16' flatbed) weigh more than 6K lbs, I was totally impressed with how well the truck did - could hardly tell we were towing. We averaged about 13.5 mpg for the whole trip. Tranny temps only rose above normal when pulling up the real steep grades - and then they got no higher than about 220 degrees. I'm as happy as can be with this truck, and it's bone stock!

Glad you enjoyed the "Million Dollar Hi-Way," it's one of my favorite drives. Just think... a million bucks used to be a lot of money!

Been there - we've run Blackbear, Imogene, and Ophir passes in both directions (well, not Blackbear) into and out of Telluride (in my wife's Jeep). The town itself doesn't do much for me, but the scenery is simply awesome!
