I am interested in buying the 2006 camper mirrors and called the local dealer and asked the parts guy what the cost would be. My question now has to do with what he told me; that I should wait and buy the 2007 Camper mirrors because he had heard that the angle of the 2007 mirrors were corrected from the 2006 mirrors, which are not parallel to the ground.

Any truth that the 2007 is a corrected version?

I hope so, but I doubt it...

Are you talking about the 2007 "classic" bodystyle or the 2007 new body style?

The next generation GMT-900 trucks will have "leveled" camper mirrors. They look identical to the current 06 camper mirrors, except they arent angled. The 2007 "classic" trucks will have the angled 2006 camper mirrors... :(

From you answer, it would seem that the 2007 mirrors for the GMT-900 trucks probably will not be able to retrofit on the "classic", or current, style?

no; the windshield rake is significantly steeper on the GMT-900's. So the angle of the a-pillar will probably not allow 2007 GMT-900 mirrors to fit on -800's. :(

I'm surprised that some enterprising person has not started making a molded plastic spacer to correct the dumbo ears effect of our crooked mirrors. I guess it was just oo much for GM to "engineer" them to look level!

Damn you guys are picky I never noticed or care that they ain't level, they're the best option out there IMO.

Just a reminder, the mirrors are made by a supplier for GM, which doesn't excuse GM from not to have them made correctly. They do work great, a big improvement over oem's. Thanks

The trim plastic also needs to be modified. I'm thinking about doing it, but once I cut that trim plastic, then there is no going back. Also, there is a pressure plate type mechanism that basically locks the mirror in place and this would probably have to be modified. Cutting and rewelding the mirror is not a good option I believe because the axis of rotation will cause the mirror to rotate at a weird angle, although, you wouldn't be rotating the mirror much if at all...could still be an option. :) I have seen a truck with the mirrors extended and it looks *funny*.

How much are we looking at for a set of the 06 mirrors?

Why the :( faces?? I like the angled look of the mirros. These trucks are all about angles. Looking at the front end the lights have a nice angle to them. The mirrors compliment it all IMO. I guess i'm one of few that like them??

(btw... i hated the mirros at first. i called them doofy ):h)

I came across this link in another thread about what the 2007 2500 looks like. It certainly appears that the 2007 mirrors are very level.

Of course, it could my eye, but take a look and give me your opinion.

Unit 453,
My dealer wants $500.00 installed.
It's brand new (1134 miles) so he said their body shop would probably give a hundred bucks or so for the take-offs.
There is another towing mirror (aftermarket) available for about $550.00 a pair that look very effective. Forgot the name (begins with s?).

GMPartsDirect has them for about $167 each. I forgot the P/N but I need something soon too as I'm going to start towing a lot more and these OEM ones are too narrow.

I have a brand new set of the 2006 camper mirrors RPO DPN I want to sell ... truck has 17 miles on it ... 480-248-4329 ... Cell ... I take paypal

I am willing to deal on a fair price ... Unfortunately I am new on here and am restricted from classifieds section for now, and I bought a 2006 VortecMAX truck so not many things to talk about since I didn't buy a diesel ... Not trying to use the forum for gain mind you, I just see a lot of people here struggling to find these mirrors at a fair price ...

I do check out the powertrain section/s for good info though since some things are similar ... :)

I am on many other forums and live in AZ .. Mike L. can vouch for me as he knows me from the Avalanche forums ..

I never noticed they were crooked. In fact I always said "I should get those for mine"

Anyone have a pic of the crookedness?

They are better than the 03 Camper mirrors (the electric extendable ones) right?

The crooked new ones are like the Fords, Im thinking.
