: Buying a LBZ motor???
heathgu 07-24-2006, 05:14 AM I am looking to purchase a New or Near new LBZ and Allison trans.
What i am after is names, contacts, email address of people/companies who sell these motors or who could point me in the right directing. Also i will need all the relevent looms/computers/etc etc to complete this convertion.
Also does anyone know someone who has put a duramax into another non-chev/gmc vehicle??
Cheers and Thanks Heath:)
PS if any has a wiring diagram of the complete engine and trans loom that would be appreciate.:)
fearnot 07-24-2006, 08:24 AM Pardon the interruption, I don't have any answers for you. Others will chime in with info for you.
I really do wish you luck on your project.
And for the sake of all that is mechanical, PLEASE call it and "engine". ;) :D

CottonWoodBlues 07-24-2006, 08:35 AM Oh, give him a break. He's got his heart in the right place. I too would love to see a crate D/A combo. A complete wire loom and all the trimmings would be a big plus. That (loom) alone would be enough to get the swap ball rolling for a lot of folks.

dmaxalliTech 07-24-2006, 11:09 AM I know of a source in Canada that I have purchased alot from, always excellent quality and condition.
Riccas 07-24-2006, 12:03 PM There is a guy on eBay who almost always has 1 or 2 for sale. You can buy the engine from him and he can even install it for you. I believe there is also someone here on the forum that does Suburban/Dmax setups. Anyone know who i'm talking about??
psuperman112 07-24-2006, 12:11 PM I'd be interested in upgrading my 6.0 to a Dmax/allison combo, is this a very expensive idea?

pussow 07-24-2006, 05:31 PM i have a complete 06 duramax engine, with the dash harness, column and key to get you through passlock2, it also has the tranny and complete engine harness, intercooler, fuel filter
email tt5t@hotmail.com if interested
Big Windy 07-24-2006, 05:55 PM The pictures of that Schram engine show one pretty engine. I would love to stick that in my Suburban , probably easier to buy a new cc w/ a top though.
heathgu 07-24-2006, 06:21 PM Thanks for the replies,
The engine for sale on ebay is that the going price i am expecting to pay?
Just interested I can purchase a New LLY engine and computer in Australia for $12000aus which is roughly $9000us.
But i like the sound of all the extras which i will need to purchase anyway to get this motor up and running.
Keep the replies coming
Cheers Heath

minisub 07-24-2006, 10:09 PM Geeze, I wish I didn't get rid of my '85 Toy pickup with the rotted out frame. I could have just repowered it....
Prophet 07-24-2006, 10:15 PM I've been thinking about putting a LBZ/6-speed Allison in a Oka RV. Might be my next project if I can get it to fit...

off topic but a 7.8L duramax? Looks at the HP to Tq ration. Kinda puts it into the Cummins realm as far as numbers go.
heathgu 07-25-2006, 09:20 PM Is there any other companies who sell duramax that i can get in contact with?
Also can anyone tell me the weight of a complete duramax engine only not trans.
Cheers Heath
