I've only had this truck about three weeks. The oil just looks thin to me. I it is also a little bit over the full mark. I can't smell fuel on the dipstick. It seems to run OK too. Maybe I'm just paranoid. I dripped some oil on a paper towel, but I don't really know what to look for. It seemed to spead out pretty fast. Were the '03 injectors really better? The truck has 122,000 miles. I posted the VIN in the VIN check forum.

There doing injector warranty on the 03's on a case by case basis.
After the oil drips on the paper towel the oil should make 1 ring and then around that sort of like a halo will be a layer of diesel if you have any fuel mixed in.
If you haven't changed the oil yet then it's better you do it because who knows what someone might of put in there. Shell Rotella 15w40 dino oil is good and 5w40 is good for a synthetic.

Maybe I'm OK then. There is one ring around the initial drop. It is a little lighter in color but there is no noticeable halo of fuel. I'm going to change the oil tomorrow. I use Rotella 15w40 dino in everything I own. I'm just not use to how clean the oil looks. I've been around diesels all my life. I'm used to the oil being tar black. The oil in this thing actually looks clean. My 6.5 will instantly turn new oil black.

The newer generation of diesels are much cleaner. You won't get black oil anywhere near as fast as you did with the 6.5.
