Has anyone tried one of these, or heard anything about them bad or good.I like the fact that you can get the tube that goes from the box down to your lower valance for fresh air.

Last I checked that tube was not out yet for the Dmax, is it now?

Hey Weldermax,

The guy that Grasshopper is talking about is ME http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif. I have had it installed for a while now. Works great and like the design. Here is a pic of it installed on my rig:

Looks good bodysurfer, thanks for the picture.Does it pull in air from the bottom or the side?

Weldermax, it pulls from BOTH. Easy to install and fits like a glove. Also, love the relocation of the airflow sensor. No excess oil getting on it, if it happens. You have to remove that plastic box that has the 6.6L logo on it. You dont need it. You're going to love the whistle sound of the turbo.

What shape is the filter on the Volant? Cone, flat or other? Can it be cross referenced with any otheres out there such as AFE Progaurd 7 or uni?

Bodysurfer that's great, I was wondering if it would increase the turbo wine or not. The louder the better!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Bronco,,,, The volant box comes with a afe filter, so odds are it will be able to be cross refferenced to a pro gaurd 7! The filter is a cone style one! If I remember correctly the filter inside diameter a 5" as opposed to the standard 4" for most other intake systems, that is the only difference!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

BTW, bodysurfer, I remebered talking to you about the volant before, but could not remember your name on here, sorry man!!!

Its pretty sad. We brag how quiet the dmax is then we make everything louder. Go figure.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I kept the 6.6 logo with mine. Just had to fasten it down.
Volant filter is not very big. Only one side gets dirty
anyways.

But its a great intake system....in my opinion. Big tube from the filter to the turbo inlet pipe. More air the better....goes great with the Banks Monster Exhaust and HyperTech on level 3.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I just installed my Volant about an hour ago. Took it for a spin around the block and i noticed a nice difference. More pep on the bottom end and a little more noise. Kit installed easily in about 30 min. Not bad considering I am not very mechanically inclined and there were no instructions in the box. I noticed that our local GM dealership was selling the Volant but none of the other makes. I am assuming that this means that GM likes the set up and recomends this one if you are going to buy one.

Does this system work on the LLY? If so, where did you guys get yours? Any online vendors you recommend? What'd you pay?

TX RED, any reason you went with this one over AFE or any of the others? Just curious. I like the AFE setup and I like the Volant too. Just curious as to the intake capabilities of the Volant in that it is still inside a box..... while the AFE is open.. Just weighing options....

Personally I have cut lot's of holes in my Volant. It just does not get enough air not saying that AFE is any better. I have not changed yet because I am working on something with my Volant because it does draw air from the bottom. Problem with the volant is draws air from the little hole in the fender well and from a baseball size hole in the bottom of the box. The way they have it will not get enough air for those that are running big programs not that anything else is any better. JMHO

Well that is cool, thanks for the reply. I have been tossing it around and looking at both I like the AFE because it is more open. I have access to both at a nice price so I am just getting feedback.

I do like the clean look of the volant, before I did surgery.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Well after a 400 mile trip today I have to say I am very pleased with the Volant. The truck seems to have a little more get up and go. And the added whistle sound is nice. Claen and easy install I would really recomend.
