I am new to the Diesel Place. Have been on other sites before.
Sold my 1988 7.3 F350 4x4 a few months ago. Now I am looking at a 1984 6.2 Van that has a 4x4 conversion on it. 8000# warn winch. Trans just rebuilt. Rear end just gone thru. Body in good shape. Miles are at least 156,000. AC crapped out. Interior good. New tires. $3000.00
Engine appears to leak from more than one place. Sounds good, drives good for a slow beast.
I have searched this site for info and have found some good info...thanks.
What is something like this worth if the engine checks out good???
(hope to have a diesel mech. check it out first)
I don't need it, just want it. I get stupid sometimes. Love diesels. Always wanted a 4x4 van.
Opinions/advice before I screw up and buy it?? :thankyou2

Welcome to the forum!

Sounds like a bit much money to me, but then again I don't know all that much about what vans are worth. Plus, the modifications probably add quite a bit to the value... So the price could be right on.

Just make sure none of those leaks are coolant leaks... That can be a major headache.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice.
To make a long story short, I have decided not to buy it at this time.
It has major cool factor about it, but I think it is just a money pit on wheels.

Hey man,

That's the point. You NEED to buy it. Judging from your description above, you were just dying to fit that van into the $3,000 justification.

Listen, if handsome, rich, intelligent men like us didn't spend all our money on tools and car parts, we would rule the world. Money pits are created to bring balance into a world otherwise overrun by talented motorheads like us.

Anyway, I think you should buy it and go broke enjoying it. Afterall can you off-road with hundred dollar bills or use them for a mobile camper?:grd:

Welcome again, sorry for the speil.

Best, G
