My fuel milage has gone down hill quick. I was getting around 18-19 miles to the gallon. Last 3 tanks has been more in the 12 range. using stock air filter(brand new2 tanks ago) and fuel filter only has about 3000 miles on it. Also sometimes it is hard starting. I will have to trun it over 2 or 3 times to get it to finally catch. What could be casuing this? thanks guys Josh

probably injectors. If you are not modded.

Potentially a whole host of things:


Bad fuel - consequently restricted filter - would run poorly after startup


Air in the system


As mentioned before injectors or pump itself - hopefully you have warranty

I was forced to go the dealer today. Walked out of the doctors office and truck would not start. Called wrecker, got towed finally. Dealer fixed in about 30 minutes. The fuel filter had collapsed inside, the lining is what they said. It was a napa filter. They replaced with a Stock filter, truck cranked right up and i was on my way. It had created a vaccum in the filter which was keeping fuel from getting to the enigine. Oh well thanks for the help guys

problem again, filter does not seem to be keeping prime, it is doing the same thing all over again, Hopefully my dealer can figure it out monday, I am thinking maybe the pump since it will not keep a prime.
