Well I am now serious about getting a Duramax so I stopped by the local dealer to see what they had. I had talked to a friend of mine a few weeks ago that buys off the auction and I can get one from him for cost plus $500. Well when I so the K2500 4 door short box loaded for $48K MSPR I decided to go the auction route. I could of bought and 03 K3500 4 door pretty much loaded with 16K on it for $31K. I have only bought one used vehicle in 24 years od being married but I guess this will make number 2. I don't know how GM is selling so many new ones at that price.

Greg you can get the price down pretty good if you have all of the options and incentives lined up. Howard might be able to help too. It is tough though if you don't have any equity built up in a trade or something to sell outright as a downpayment.

Sticker at 48 should be about 43 invoice.

Rebate should get it down to 39500.

I built up my GM card which would give me an additional $2000 off

$37,500

Then you have other discounts and certificates. Posting this here is a smart move. You may get a lot of help.

It does look like they are raising base prices to compensate for incentives somewhat.

I paid $35,000 for my new truck. Loaded crew cab diesel 4x4. Guess you pay more for the extra cylinders.

Few are actually paying sticker right now.

With incentives and discounts, I paid $43k out the door, tax license, everything. And 0% financing (worth about $5000).

My MSRP was over $49k, so I saved about $15,000 off MSRP/conventional finance.

With all the incentive giveaways, I'd bet GM has been steadily raising MSRP. But as others have said, few pay anything close to MSRP. Been that way since I bought mine in late '01. Check another dealer.

My truck stickered out at 44,500. After rebates, incentives, and negotiation, the selling price was 35,500. This was a truck that was built to spec and ordered.

Looking at a New 2004-LB7.CC/SB D/A....GMC... SLT....Loaded up well with options.

Approx. $46K--Sticker

GM Supplier - approx $41K

Rebate $3500......$2500 + $1000 Bonus Cash

So bottom line is around $37,500..........seems like it could be better. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Anybody know anything else ????

BTW........they offered me $25,000 for mine..... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ouch.gif

Either 0% to 5 years or 2.9 for 6 years and all the Rebates .........

Kelly Blue Book says $28,000 trade in......

Private Sale would be $31,500

Dealer price would be $35,000

This seem accurate ????????

I just ordered an 05... I dont know what sticker will be, but the 04 I built up was 49,400. The 05 is gonna be the same except it will have power moon roof. I expect that to push it over the 50k mark. I get GMS working at the dealer and GMS from family member. Doubt any rebates on a 05 truck.. I laughed at what they offered me for trade on mine....

Good thing is that even know I ordered the truck, I am not stuck with it should I not like it or someing, sales manager said he would just put it on the lot, no biggy... THat is nice to kow..

I just purchased my wife a new truck.

She looked at 2500 HD and 3500s, new and used.

With the incentives and discounts she decided on the 3500 LT CrewCab 4X4 with Duramax/Allison, even got our daughter the DVD player!

Sticker was 49K sales price was 40K. We looked at the auctions and on the Internet, used 2500 HDs and 3500s with similar equipment and less than 30k miles were selling for 37K.

It was worth 3K for the warranty and to get the truck just like she wanted it.

One more thing, we found a used 3500 at a dealer in another town, with everything she wanted, but the color, she was going to compromise, until I ran the vin# through our local dealerships computer. The truck had 26 warranty claims in 15 months, and one of them was to replace the rear axle! It was originally sold in Canada, and there was some question about the warranty being valid in the US. The selling dealer claimed to have no idea, but he had the truck priced at $32K. Just goes to show if it sounds too good to be true......

If you buy a used truck Carfax is not enough, if the dealer sells the brand you are looking at ask them to get you a warranty service record. If they don't sell that brand, go to the nearest dealer that does and ask them to pull it for you. All you need is the VIN.

Do your homework, some peopel can mess up a vehicle in a hurry!

I hear ya man ... There is this guy down in Alabama that I know ,member here ,I won't blow his cover ,*cough* Sdaver *cough* that well .... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif J/K

The Canada thing ,conversion and warranty and true mileage would be more of a concern unless the warranty work was for major "repeat" work ... You have to remember some people run to the doctor for the littlest things too ...This may or may not leed up to unnecessary work to hush or keep a customer happy, that does sound like an awfull high return, agreed ...

Good luck with your truck

I looked at a used 3500, it was just what I wanted. I had Eric run the vin and the warranty sheet was longer than my arm, so I walked away from it. The salesman called a couple of days later and wanted to know if I waited it. I think I might have taken a little wind out of his sale after I told him all I new about it. It was and 01 with 34K and he was asking 31K. My friend that buys from the auction is how I am going to go I think.

From memory, that truck had a rear axle replaced, a right rear wheel, a front right wheel assembly, the A/C control unit, the ABS control unit and that is all I can remember........ I know some folks that go to the service department everytime the car squeaks, but you know they don't just replace big ticket items on a whim.......

I'd spend 30 minutes at a delaership and get a real price, don't base your decision on the sticker price!

My sticker on my '04 Dmax/alli, 4x4, EC,SB, LS was 42,100 I paid 32,400, gave me 11,000 for my '98 Z71, 3.44% finance for 5yrs.

Looks like they really jacked up the list prices since I bought mine. Mine originally listed at $42,000 and with no incentives at the time I paid $39,000 out the door. That as three years ago.

Tony.... around here two places offered me what KBB listed as trade in value which was $21,000 so I believe you can get your $28 if you show them the research. I think they use a similar pricing scheme as KBB because I could tell the KBB number was their limit.

What ever you do, don't listen to Broker.... he placed mine at like $15,000 or less.

Over the last couple of years, GM has built the large rebates they are offering into the MSRP. Thats the reason for the sticker shock. This will hurt them in the long run (my opinion).

Even if they are building the rebates into the MSRP they are still a little under F**d from my research. Comparably priced Powerstroke was a few hundred higher using X-Plan than my GMC using GM Supplier.

Truck as ordered by me had a sticker of $44,747. With Supplier pricing, $3500 rebate, and a $500 Saddle Mount Gas Tank Class Action Settlement Certificate from a Relative, I Paid $35,553 and that was with the dealer giving me $23,000 for my 01 1500HD Sierra 6.0 gasser with 36,000 miles.

Takes a little work on your part to find a deal, but your off to a good start with this forum.

Like the others have said, Howard would be a great place to start.

Just bought a LLY 04 CC SB 4x4,

Sticker $47,836......... Sale Price with rebates $38,523

I too tried to trade in my 02 Duramax and laughed at the dealer................

I am sure incentives will just continue to get better on the 04s as gas prices go up. GM is still behind last year on truck production which will also help sweeten the rebates. I would have waited to see what happend but the dealer made me a good deal and had the truck.

It is a buyer's market right now and in my opinion you would be crazy not to buy a new truck.
