: Racors still available in plastic wrappers?

I've been using the filters from GM, and now I'm due for another, but I hear they're now packaged in a cardboard box and without the plastic wrapping around the filter. That bothers me a lot. A cardboard box is a dirty environment when you're talking about sub-10 micron particles.

Doesn't bother me so much on my CAT because it's pre-oem, but the oem filter is the last one, it needs to clean when it's installed.

What about the Racor branded version? Or other branded versions of the same thing? Any available with the plastic wrapping? Where's a good place to order them from?

Bought some Racor branded fuel filters from Greg Landuyt (Lubespecialist) recently for a good price and they came fully enclosed in plastic wrapping. I believe he is a supporting vendor here, check out his website.

Ya know I was wondering the same thing. HOw come if the CAT and others filters are so wonderful (and they are!) but they come in a cardboard box with no sealed wrapper, how come some of the RACOR filters that are meeting the needs are coming with the wrapper? I mean, are the better filters really a benefit at the initial start up if the clean side is contaminated from the packaging? Or, is this just trying to pick out the Fly sh!t out of the pepper?

I just bought 3 OEM LLY filters from GM Parts Direct. They come in a plastic wrapper with replacement O-rings in the box.

Will the LLY filters fit the LB7 filter base.

tommy, they will fit, but hit the valve cover. I am having a few pieces made up to test that should make it fit with out any trouble.
