Being single and not washing machine friendly, how the heck do you get the diesel fuel smell out of clothes?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

I changed out my fuel tank last week, and after 3 washings, I still can't get the smell out of my jeans. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Here's the secret...Wash them with a few drops of Dawn dish detergent...Only a few drops, and use your regular laundry detergent as well. Sometimes it takes a couple of cycles to get the smell out completely.

Kevin's trick is worth a try, I can't say if it works.

I'd read a number of posts about not being able to get the smell out, so when I installed my pre OEM filter, I just wore clothes that went in the garbage can afterward...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

kinda like 80 90w. I spilt a gallon of it in the back of my blazer once. I finnaly got used to the smell. The chicks never did thoughhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif Oh well.

Hey look at it this way. If you pick up a chick while you reek of #2 then you found a keeper!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Try soaking it in a bucket with some water and a bunch of goop. Goop seems to break down oil in clothes and even concreet really well.

I just tripple up on the laundry soap and throw a box of baking soda in there.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Sam's Club sells a product called "ODO BAN". I use it for everything that tends to have a smell. i.e. ice chect, boat live well, washing down the patio after cleaning fish and my wife will add a little to the washer when I've been working in my shop.

Fire, good!

Or, follow Eric's advice. Let the uniform service deal with it. Sneek you clothes in with a return. If they come back Clean, great! If they don't come back, Great!

Ahh; brings back memories..

Bad part is when your buddies fill the front pockets with silicone sealer while your uniforms are in the dirty pile waiting to be picked up..

Kinda hard to explain to the big boss next week when they get back..

Glad I went back to College.. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

When I was working on army helicopters, jet fuel soaked nomex flight suits were not uncommon. My well experienced platoon sergeant instructed me to add one can of Coca Cola to the wash. This was in addition to the laundry detergent. Works great.

That doesn't help here Eric.

Aramark washes our coveralls and clothes in a tank of oil to get the crap out.

Some of them come back dirtier and smellier than before cleaning.

Some people w/ weak skin have to wear t shirts or they break out in rashes.

I rebuilt the axles on a semi trailer last week and my hands still smell like old gas (washed bearings in gas).

The smell never comes out. Your nose just adapts. Back when I was on diesel submarines I brought some new tee shirts still sealed in plastic on patrol and never open them up. When I brought them home and opened the package . . . ewww.

The "Coke" trick does work, but as someone else pointed out, combustion works better.

Coke works good for me . Before Coke I would soak a T-shirt or

gloves in bucket of water & Scope mouth Wash . That worked good

but Coke is easier . http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
