Quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, looks like a duck, must be a duck. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

My LLY sounds like a diesel and smells like a stinking diesel. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Haven't got an LB7 handy to compare it with, but the 7.3's in the ambulances at work smell like diesels, this LLY is definitely a lighter smell. Not very diesel like at all.

One of the guys who removed the CAT on his CA LB7 was talking about how all of a sudden his smelled much "richer" in the garage. In talking about this on a previous thread, I think the conclusion was that the CAT equiped engines do have a different less diesel engine smell. Some like it, others hate it...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Zeeb,

My LLY is definitely a lighter smell than most diesels. In fact the lighter diesel smell was a great help in helping me to decide to buy the darn thing. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

My CAT is off my LLY.....if you like the diesel smell, I got plenty of it! when the CAT was on I didn't notice smell.

After removing your cat, did you notice any performance improvements?

Thanks,

Smell on LLY is still there just "different" than a "typical" diesel.

My brother has a 2003, LB7 (18,000 miles) and I have a 2004.5, LLY (1,500 miles). The LB7 does put out more of a diesel smell.

The exhaust out the LLY doen't seem to have the traditional diesel smell. Maybe this will change after the converter gets older.
