I was wondering if anyone here makes their own bio diesel from used cooking oils with methanol and lye?

Where do you collect the oil from, and how do you do so?

What method do you use for refining? Did you make your own refining setup like the mixing tanks etc.. or buy a premade solution?

thanks

I just buy the vegetable oil and burn it.
I don't think you can get the NaHO and Methanol premixed. Plus you don't want it pre mixed.
I have bio diesel in my future, just need to get back home and make some on the stove form SVO first. I all ready have the NaHO and alcohol.
I won't be going full scale unless I can get plenty of WVO.

I know you can get it premixed and like you said wouldnt want it anyway. Where do you buy the veggie oil from, and how much does it run per gallon?

What do you plan on running on the fuel?

I make biodiesel...
www.biodiesel.org is a good place to start for research then there are many more sites from there...
I make biodiesel from WVO... I buy Lye in bulk locally and I get Methyl alcohol delivered.
I made my own mix tanks from stainless (500 gallon batches) and use 500 gallon wash and settle tanks...
I collect the wvo with a trash pump and 275 gallon 'square' with 2" output.
I strain the wvo too 600 micron first then down to 100 before I transertify...
