How many of you out there have more than 40,000 miles on a 2003? I just hit 40 with no problems other than a rear door latch sensor.

60,000 miles as well, no problems, except I think the steering box might be going b/c it's just started to squeak when I turn the wheel.

I don't fit the question but thought I'd chime in...........25,000 lost the water pump.....just an annoying spot on the driveway. 30,000 now and no additional problems to report.

9600 miles and runs great! Rearview mirror compass not correct, right side extendable mirror sticks most of the time and twice had the sevice 4WD message. Worse yet I have no time to get to the dealer for these issues. All servicing performed at home.Edited by: motocopter

Hey motocopter, have you tried calibrating your compass, and also set the variance?

<font face="Times New Roman, Times, serif">
Compass Calibration
The compass may need calibration if one of the following occurs:

- If CAL is displayed while driving in the vehicle.

- After approximately five seconds, the display does not show a compass heading (N for North, for example), there may be a strong magnetic field interfering with the compass. Such interference may be caused by a magnetic antenna mount, magnetic note pad holder or a similar magnetic item.

- The compass does not display the correct heading and the compass zone variance is set correctly. In order to calibrate, CAL must be displayed in the mirror compass windows. If CAL is not displayed, push in the COMP button for approximately eight seconds or until CAL is displayed.

The compass can be calibrated by driving the vehicle in circles at five mph (8 km/h) or less until the display reads a direction.

Compass Variance
The mirror is set in zone eight upon leaving the factory. It will be necessary to adjust the compass to compensate for compass variance if you live outside zone eight. Under certain circumstances, as during a long distance cross-country trip, it will be necessary to adjust for compass variance. Compass variance is the difference between earth's magnetic north and true geographic north. If not adjusted to account for compass variance, your compass could give false readings.

To adjust for compass variance:

Find your current location and variance zone number on the following zone map. (see owners manual for picture) Press and hold the COMP button for five seconds until a zone number appears in the display. Press the COMP button on the bottom of the mirror until the new zone number appears in the display. After you stop pressing the button, the display will show a compass direction within a few seconds.

dndj, sorry about the my "compass not correct." Not sure what I was thinking. I actually have a problem with the digits on the temp portion. The "1" and "7" look like a backwards capital letter "F" since the middle and upper horizontal segments are continuously lit. So, when the temps are in the 40s, the display looks like 90s. Also, the two buttons for temp and comp each do the same - turn off both displays. The compass actually appears to be accurate - not sure why I wrote compass.Edited by: motocopter

I bought a 2001 two months ago with 150,000 on it. The reason I did was every Diesel person I talked to said not to worry about high milage on a Duramax. I took it to a Chevrolet Dealer to the engine check out. He said it was in excellent condition. So I guess everyone was right. I Love This Truck!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

33.5K, mostly highway, no towing, but often carrying loads of 1000 lbs or more. No mods other than the Nicktane filter kit.

Early on, the "Service 4WD" encoder motor problem. Driver side rear door would not unlock. Extending mirror clutch problem. All resolved on warranty.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

28k-NSBU and some other trans repairs (I think it was a warped valve body-not certain on that), left rear door speaker, and front diff vent cover leaking (replaced with white one). All smiles the rest of the way.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Bought my '01 about 6 weeks ago with 118k on the clock. Replaced all 8 injectors, injector pump, and sending unit under dealer warranty in the first two weeks I owned it. I was seriously considering getting rid of the thing. Then I put about 3k on it over the last 6 weeks towing an 18 foot enclosed motorcycle trailer (about 6k lbs) Started to fall in love with it (especially after climbing the hills of Western PA at 75 mph no problem.) This past weekend I made an 800 mile round trip to Virginia International Raceway using an F350 dually and towing a 40 ft trailer. Lets just say I'm very happy with my decision to keep my GMC now http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gifEdited by: Dutch110

38,000 and had the A/C recharged when new, wasn't cooling. I've just ordered a oil test kit and will have my oil analized. My oil pressure is acting screwy. Sometimes I get the low oil pressure warning and the oil pressure is about 40 PSI, it will swing from on extream to the next and other times it just shows 0 like the sending unit is bad. The dealers checked it and could'nt reproduce the problem. I still would'nt get rid of it, I'll never go back to gas.

So far my 03 with 26kmiles has had the following problems fixed under warranty.

- Poor A/C Performance TSB - reprogram, new pressure switch and recharge.
- "Service 4WD Drive" Error - Replaced encoder motor assy in Transfer case.
- Intermediate Steering Shaft Clunk - grease shaft TSB
- Leaking Rear Axel seal- Replaced seal and e-brake shoes.

I consider the problems minor… Truck runs great! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
