Hello,
I just joined here after hearing about this place from the people on the RV.net forums. I'm looking into buying a Silverado 2500HD 4x4 ext. cab long bed. My local dealer had to locate the truck at another dealership and they have to trade one of their trucks for it so I'm guessing they're bumping up the price to cover what they think to be money they'd lose by not being able to sell the truck they have to trade. Anyway, here's what I want:

2006 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 ext. cab long bed with Duramax/Allison and:
LT1 package
roof marker lamps
fog lights
camper mirrors
power driver's seat
Trailer wiring
5th wheel wiring provisions
steering wheel radio and DIC controls

The truck they located has all that except the 5th wheel wiring. No biggie there but it also has options I wouln't have ordered. Options like OnStar, aluminum wheels and side steps. I could get side steps from Summit Racing Equipment for under $175. I don't want to have to pay $450 for them. I realize the OnStar is there to stay so I'd probably have to let that stay in the price. The dealer said the MSRP on this LT1 was around $43,800. That seems pretty high to me for an LT1. I went to the Chevy site and did a "Build & Price" with my chosen (and unchosen) options and the truck speced out at around $41,000.

So the dealer says $43,800 and with current $2500 in rebates and they're also taking some money off, they want $37,500 for the truck. This isn't including 6% Connecticut sales tax, title and their other fees. Is this a good price for the LT1 with those options? Would I benefit more from a Supplier Discount number if I could find one? Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure this stuff out. I never was good at math. lol The local GMC dealer has a 2500HD Sierra SLE2 but they want $44,148 before adding DMV fees ($96), conveyance fees ($279) and tax ($1985). They tried to sneak in the VIN etching but I told them "No way!" on that. They did, however, offer to rework the numbers so it'll look like I'd get $11,500 for my trade (2000 GMC Savana hightop conversion van, loaded with everything except leather). And they also have the $2500 in rebates to deduct. The Chevy dealership wouldn't offer more than $7900 for my van. Ugh! Why can't I just win the lottery and then I'd be sane again......for awhile. :-) Thanks for any help you can provide.
