: GM letter refering me to BBB
Mavrick 07-17-2006, 09:22 PM Has anyone else recieved a letter from GM telling them to take their oerheating problem to the BBB AUTOLINE? I recieved one today after taking my truck in to two dealers and talking to customer service about the overheating problem. What is GM thinking?
bigdisneydaddy 07-17-2006, 09:32 PM Dont waste your time, the BBB that handles the auto companies is paid for by them. They usually dont bite the hand that feeds them.
It may be a sign that GM is finally starting to see the scope of their mistake and laying the groundwork for their further denial.
Mavrick 07-17-2006, 09:37 PM I wouldnt waste my time going through the process, I just want the truck to work as advertised with out having to worry about OH. I also don't think I (or the anyone else for that matter) should have to fix it for them. After all, they are the designers and engineers right? Or is Tx and KB the only engineers out there?
michael nelson 07-17-2006, 09:51 PM the bbb makes sence in one reason, they have to pay to be a member,so it puts a paper trail on the complaints-JMO-michael
towdog333 07-17-2006, 10:21 PM The BBB is a joke when it comes to vehicles:rolleyes: Long story;)
Mavrick 07-17-2006, 10:42 PM The way it sounds, they are all long stories and not worth the time? Guess we will have to continue to pay for our own repairs to our trucks  .

No, I have not got the letter.
However I did file a complaint with BBB back in OCT. We were finally scheduled for arbitration the second week of Jan this year. 1/2 hour prior to the scheduled arbitration time GMC customer service called me. It was a three way call with BBB and Customer service and Me. I'm in a 06 now thanks to the process. It was very fair. Heck I still have the same loan, just did an exchange of collateral with my bank and gave GM less than 1800 dollars. My 05 had 25000 miles on it when they got it back.

They still got another $1800 from you though. You could of fixed the one you had for less. Not "fair" in my opinion, but at least you got a newer truck. You did get the LBZ, right?
turBeau 07-18-2006, 12:02 PM Get an attorney like some of us might me doing.;) GM knows they screwed up on the 04.5's and 05's... BIG TIME. They are all production vehicles and will at some point in time Overheat.
Its kinda like the Energizer bunny in a sense: Once they start, they keep OH'ing, and OH'ing...

I feel it was pretty fair. I had the truck ten months. I put just over 25000 miles on the truck. I got the 05 at emplyee pricing with a 3000 rebate on top of that. So 1800 to move to a LBZ with a six speed was not bad. The 1800 also includes the cost of a line -x liner which the 05 did not have.
bigdisneydaddy 07-18-2006, 06:30 PM Dave if you feel you got a good deal thats all that counts.
although I would agree with you :D
trebor2005 07-18-2006, 06:45 PM How does your 06 do on heat? Are there any issues or did they fix the problem?
Mavrick 07-19-2006, 12:06 AM Okay, so I am the only one to get one of these letters. Really think it is a insult, just want the truck to work with out overheating and GM to pay for it.
FLSTFI Dave 07-19-2006, 07:47 AM How does your 06 do on heat? Are there any issues or did they fix the problem?
So far I have not had an issue with heat at all. My 05 overheated pulling a skid steer in 87 degree weather. I have pulled the same skid steer in 97 degree weather with out the temp gage moving in the 06.
I will be hauling a 12000 pound RV next month so that will be the real test. I could overh heat the 05 when it was 72 out side. I'll be moving it this time in 90 plus heat.
