I have a general question about reliability. I have an ’01 D/A that I have had for about a year. In that time I have had trouble with several things, nothing major, just things that were not right.

1. Center bearing on drive shaft went bad.
2. Launch shudder – still not resolved but the bearing helped.
3. Bad thermostats – still not resolved.
4. Intermittent interior light switch.
5. Intermittent mirror control switch.
6. AC/Heater blower only works on position 5 (high). Going to shop today.

With all this, I am beginning to question the long term reliability of this truck.

My question is: Are you having trouble with little things “nickel and dimeing” you to death.

I had a 1999 1500 gasser. Nothing little and the only major thing was a clip fell out of the emergency brake shoes and wore out the drum in the rear rotors. This was well past warranty but GM did meet me part way and bought one of the rotors. Other than normal maintenace and a couple bulbs nothing else. It was a very reliable truck.
