: LBZ let me down....
BLACK0627 07-17-2006, 09:29 AM I am in need of some help, Saturday night I pulled my 06 LBZ and right about the time i needed the horse power and RPM's at 255 feet it fell flat on its face. It didn't die, which at first i thought it did, but acted as if something just shut it down for a split second....I don't think i hit the rev limiter and looking back on the video you can acutally hear the old girl pretty much just give up and slide to a stop. I checked the codes right after that and didn't have any error code. I have heard that at high RPM's that the LLY and LBZ engines loose fuel pressure at the common rail and defuel so that it can rebuild pressure, is this what could have happened?? Or has anyone else had any experience with this??? Thanks to the loss of power i lost a bet and have to be disgraced for a week by wearing a hot pink JD lisence plate for a week on the front of my HD!!!!!
BLACKWIDOW 07-17-2006, 12:30 PM HE FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THE HOT PINK PLATE SAYS " COUNTRY GIRL." ITS GREAT! THE TRUCK LOOKS PRETTY IN PINK!:idiot: :D  :stick_out
Scott929 07-17-2006, 12:46 PM Aaahahahaha!!! ):h
Puffer 07-17-2006, 12:48 PM To funny , and no help.
Some one that does will respond.
BLACK0627 07-17-2006, 02:01 PM Blackwidow is just lucky my truck died out, or the plate would be on the front of his!!!!!!:D Seriously though any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!

5 P'S
WELL LOOK AT IT THIS WAY YOU HAVE TWO(POOR PERFORMANCE) OF THE FIVE P'S LOCKED DOWN. J/K
HE DID LOOSE POWER ABOUT 245-250FT, RIGHT AFTER HE MANUELY SHIFTED FROM 4TH TO 3RD. THE RPM'S CAME UP AFTER THE SHIFT AND THEN THE TRUCK JUST FELL ON ITS FACE.
Prostar8.20 07-17-2006, 09:13 PM Fuel filter ?
SleeperTRK 07-17-2006, 11:10 PM I had my truck stumble during WOT, still dont know what it was, or why. But it hasnt done it since.
mgraveman 07-18-2006, 09:26 AM Could it have shut down for high EGT's?

What setting did you have the Predator on?
With my truck stock and with my predator on 85, I have not had a single hesitation and both times I was at the rev limiter on my truck in 3rd gear for several seconds.
I pulled a few weeks ago completely stock and got my butt handed to me....the truck didn't lack power but it performed poorly (due to saggy butt). This past weekend I put a set of SOLID blocks (not airbags) in the rear, a set of Cal-tracs, and the Predator on 85HP and I put a hurting on the rest of the field. I actually let out of the throttle at the end when I knew I had beat the furthest mark (I was last in the pulloff). I think it was more due to the rear maintaining hitch height than it was the extra power. I'm a little hesitant to try the 120 setting for fear of draining the rail and/or hurting the trans, and as of right now I don't seem to need it.

(I didn't fair so well in the gas class due to vapor locking). I was test puller and pulled 278 (good enough for second) and I new I had more in it, so I dropped the pull and came back only to be stopped by vapor lock  , oh well, at least on won the diesel class.
If you look at the previous pull you will notice the same truck I beat had me by 25+ feet, now I got him by almost that much.

As far as your problem, if it was tranny slip OR draining the fuel rail you would have gotten a code. The only thing I could think of that would give you that problem would be bad fuel or a fuel filter that is starting to clog up (you wouldn't notice it until you were under load at high rpms). Guys have even had to change them even after only a few thousand miles due to poor fuel.
Hopefully you get it figured out. Let us know.
P.S. sorry to hear about the licence plate
Leadfoot 07-18-2006, 10:31 AM Could it have shut down for high EGT's?
I doubt it.
GM does not monitor EGT's from the factory, they just load fueling and boost tables that will yield EGT's within a specified safety margin. Diablo and others that do not use an EGT probe to at least monitor the temps do the same thing, they just push the envelope more (although they do say do not tow over X lbs on Y setting). Unless a tuner has a probe monitoring EGT's there is no way for it to pull back.
2006LBZ 07-18-2006, 10:48 AM Replace your FUEL FILTER. I have had lots of grief from the fuel filters in my truck. I am down to changing them every 8-9000 miles now.
I've posted other threads about this... my truck would just chug and act like its dying. I'd pull over and its still running and will rev up just fine. Try to get back on the road and it goes like 20-40mph depending on how plugged it is. Kick the throttle a few times, and it must free it up a little because I could go for a while again till it did it again. It always did it when I would put my foot down going up a hill. It mainly only did it when pulling a trailer also, which is about 90% of the time for me. (Fuel demand is higher, and the plugged filter could not provide the needed fuel pressure) I had to clear the codes each time with the bully dog.
I replaced the filter, and its fine again. This is getting expensive.
Riccas 07-18-2006, 11:02 AM The allison thought she was slipping?? Escpecially manually shifting from 3rd to 4th at higher rpm's. Built up to much HP and limped her... or almost limped her. I've limped my tranny on stock power ):h
LeroyR 07-18-2006, 12:35 PM Pink license plate ... pink dress. Hmmmm
BLACK0627 07-18-2006, 01:00 PM I guess it could have been the fuel filter but highly unlikely, i am a maintainence freak and i change the oil and all filters including the tranny filter and rotate the tires every 5000 miles. I know it is over kill but i am a farmboy and i was always taught that you can never take enought precautionary measure when it comes to equipment. I guess the forcing of it back into 3rd gear while pulling could have been the problem. I did have the predator in 120 hp, 10" blocks under the rear end, 24" of hitch height and 800lb of cast iron haning off the strapped front end.:ro) So it should have done much better than 255', I didn't realize that down shifting could cause that Alli to go limp.:help2: Any other hints or tips???
