I have diamond plate protectors on mine, sides and tail. I like the looks, but I am constantly loading and unloading equip. over the side so they take a lot of abuse, better than plastic, I know. The diamond plate will lose its shine in 3-4 years is bad part. Still better than a paint job.

was told by a salesman that the bushwacker brand bed rail caps drop down slightly near the tail light so the back of the caps and the tailgate cap line up. All other brands don't line up in the back.

Unless you have diamond plate somewhere else on the truck I would look into black plastic ones. They're more modern, cheaper, won't discolor as bad and match the rest of the truck. :exactly:

I would not put on the black plastic ones again. I had them on my 02 Z71. they started peeling off after about 3 months and flapping up and down, scratching the paint. I ripped them off as soon as I noticed this.

I then put the diamond tread bed caps on and have them on my current truck along with a diamond tread tailgate cover that matches. Not to crazy about the tailgate thing tho. I think i would rather have the 1500 style cap.

Any way, thats my 2 cents.

Oh come on now. The diamond plate is like from the seventys! Switch it out for some plastic. I know what you mean by them starting to flap but as long as you get a good set and use some screws not just 3M tape you should be good.

the installer I talked to said that you need to use some rubbing alchohol to wipe down the rails after cleaning good to get the tape to stick good

that was the way they put the plastic ones on my old truck. It still didn't last:eek: .

plastic, hmm, I think there is another thread on here somewhere about why we hate plastic...;)
