Well that is the bad news...small cracks are showing up in the finish of my hood.
Good news is, as of today, pending the boss' approval, the dealership will be painting my hood the week of 8/7.
Let us all keep our fingers crossed.

No rust, dealership says it is a warranty item. But we will see.

Warranty is for RUST THROUGH, not rust!

Who knows for sure? I am going down tomorrow AM to speak to the service manager to make certain they are ponying up. Nothing is for certain unless they spray the hood for free...besides there are plenty of rock hits from the highway. If they pain the hood for free, I get a $600 paint job on the arm...otherwise, I aould need to fix the rock damage myself. Either way, I would not be disappointed.

Official word today is:
I am out of the 3/36, and am on my own. Good Job with the cheap clear coat on my $40,000 + Rig.
I will be out ~$600 to fix.

Diesel Dually:
May I make one recommendation...... Who ever you bring it to. MAKE sure that they strip the hood to bare steel. If the shop tries to short cut it by sanding and primering over the cracks, then it will just shrink and swell (thus ruining your fresh paint work.)

Now might be a good time to get some of your plastic pieces (bumper, mirror, etc.) done too - while your buddy's in a good mood. :D

Ok...got the hood painted. A little Mothers Back to Black for the trim pieces and I am good to go. I cannot quote the price, but Thanks to Mike Shaw Chevy in Denver for great Customer Service and a smoother than a baby's rump paint job! Truely impressive!

My '03 is beginning to show signs of cracking as well. I've been like the Karate Kid from the very beginning having babied it with multiple coats of $30/can Black Magic pure carnuba. I've clay detailed it several times.
I haven't approached the dealer about it yet but plan to in the near future.
I don't know if it is bad form to plug a supplier on this board but topoftheline.com has a great selection of premium detailing supplies.
