Thinking about buying an advanced scan tool. What do I need to use to reset the VIN on a TNR Radio? Is the Tech 2 the only thing that will do that? Might have some other uses for a Tech 2 as well if that's the only thing that will do that, but not well versed on them. What accessories do I need to use a Tech2 on what model GMs?

Tech 2 is the only thing that will do it. You need the CANdi module for 06 and newer Duramax's and newer cars etc.

Thanks Max, I'm looking at some on Ebay that say they have the 32mb card good through 07, is that the Candi module? If not, can you tell from a picture if it has the Candi module? Some of these folks that are selling them don't know any more than I do, judging from the write ups, don't figure they would know if I asked. Do I need the Candi module if working on pre '06 models?

No a CANdi module actually plug into the cable. It will add to the cost of the Tech 2.
You don't need the CANdi module on pre 06 trucks but I don't know about cars.
The Candi module is the box on the lower left in this picture

You don't need the CANdi module on pre 06 trucks but I don't know about cars. You will also need the CANdi module if you are working on the 2005 SSR truck. They use the 32 bit ECM & TCM. I believe the Trailblazer SS also uses the 32 bit ECM & TCM.

only for the ECM and TCM tho.
you can still do body and chassis stuff on the 2006 and 2007 classic trucks without a CANdi box.
