I've purchased and installed a Scangauge II on my C4500. The "real time" display of data is very useful, especially the MPG and Water Temperature.
I did find that when I used the SCAN function, it returned "No Codes Found". However, I immediately checked the Codes with my Predator, and the Predator returned the 0910 Fail, 0901 Pass that I normally get with the CAT off on a CA Emissions Vehicle.
Has anyone else found that the Scangauge II does not accurately read the DTCs?

Where the heck is the OBD II or DLC port located on a 4500? I have a Regency upfitted 2006 GMC 4500 and would like to install the ScanGauge.
However, I've searched under the dash and only see a maze of OEM and aftermarket wires and plugs, but nothing that looks like the OBD II port.
Please help!

Almost dead center, between the driver and passenger sides of the dash. Where the dash wraps under. I can reach it while sitting in the driver's seat. Not hidden at all.

That's where it is now!
Apparently when the assemblers at Regency were installing the upfitted radio, gauges etc. they removed the plug from its OEM location and shoved it into the uper regions of the dash where it could not be seen by just looking. I finally found it after thirty minutes of tracing wires and feeling around.
The plug is now snapped back into proper location and the ScanGauge II is connected and working without any problems.
Thanks for the reply and the help.

I ordered my SCANGAUGE from their WEB Site. $169 delivered.
I've been monitoring real time MPG when towing, and find it helpful to determine when to defeat the OD and drop a gear.
Still no coments on my original question about the unit not displaying DTCs that are found by my Predator.
Anyone else find this to be true??????

What are the "10 writeable codes" that can be sent to your engine? I am looking at buying a scangauge...can never have too many gauges!

I haven't had time to dig into that aspect of the Scangauge. Too busy on the Rodeo Circuit.
Perhaps someone can clue us in?

The ten commands are for setting different modes/protocol for communicating to a particular make vehicle ECU. Dependent upon the vehicle manufacturer the mode may have to be changed in order for the ScanGauge II to function correctly.
Typically the mode is selected automatically by the ScanGauge II, however as in all things electrical/mechanical there can be multiple variations dependent upon date of manufacture, sub-contractor supplier etc. The commands allow you to enter the proper mode or protocol manually.
Once I located the OBD II connector and put it back into its correct location, I just plugged in the ScanGauge II and followed the directions in the manual they provide. It worked fine without any adjustments to the mode/protocol. I just made provided the necessary basic info, fuel type, size motor etc.
I think its well worth the money! I use it also to determine Od disable when towing, monitoring fuel mileage and the real time digital read out for engine temp is really helpful.
