I viewed the picture of "Wise Guy"'s truck. I saw the deep trans pan. Does anyone have a part number and know where I can purchase one. What type of vehicle is it off of? How much does it increase the capacity? Does it use the stock internal filter or is there a change there also?

Hoots procedure under the do it yourself should answer all your questions. Did this last year. Worked great, except when I dumped trans fluid all over myselfhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif.

dmaxalliTech sells the parts. So does your nearest allision store.

For an Allison stamped steel pan, go to:

If you want a deep cast aluminum, (more money), try:

The best price for the Mag-Hytec, go to:

I have tested all the pans and done measurements. Allison deep pan allows filter to come out of case too far.(scary) PML by far is the best pan. It uses factory gasket, not an o ring seal that is prone to leak. ( I have had leak problems with new ones, I no longer handle these pans).

OK Mike where can I see a picture of the PML pan, who sells it, whos filter does it use ? When you took your measurements, the distance between the filter and the Allison aftermarket and the PML, do you still have them? Was there enough room for the allison deep filter to come completely out of the valvebody boss or just slip down enough to suck air with the deep allison pan?

The NEW Allison deep pans use O-ring gaskets ?? UM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I hate to disagree but just about every Allison in the service industry runs deep pans and I haven't heard much of a failure rate with it's use ...

Mike,

What about the Mag-Hytec, it uses o-rings on the trans. pan and diff. cover. Are you saying these are prone to leak?

I meant the Mag pan uses an o ring and i have seen them leak. O ring flattens out and not a good idea to reuse. The Allison factory deep pan does allow filter to move. Try this test like I did. Pull Allison deep factory pan and pull the filter out half an inch, fit pan back up, bet it does not touch. Now, try another half inch out, fit pan again and see where you are as far as clearance. Both the Mag pan and PML pan do not allow filter to move at all and they both work well. I prefer to use factory pan gasket and do not worry about future pan drops with the PML.

I can see your point on the O-ring not being a "life time" gasket .... But how many times is the ordinary going to remove the Mag-Hytec with a drain in it ?? Not many ....

I still wonder the importance ,allbeit I never tested ,the height problem ....
I ran a deep pan for a very long time and always no matter how many times the pan was pulled the suction filter was tight in the appropiate spot ....Never turned or angeled or part way out .... I not doubting it can be pulled down as you say ....

I never heard of it being a problem with'in Allison with all the HD 1000 series in the severe service industry from RV's to Firetrucks ....As many as us Allison owners who switched can attest have never had a problem ...
JMO .....

I agree, I haven't heard of a failure either. I still don't like the fact that the filter is capable of moving out. You are right as far as how many times a pan is likely to be removed on the Ally. I still like the factory gasket for my own truck.

What is the difference between the PML and the Mag other than the type of sealing device and the name? Do both carry the same amount of additional fluid?
