Have a any of you guys run into the problem I took my truck to a shop to get the driver side axle seal replace because of a minor leak. Well after 1 hr of labor they told me that they were unable to remove my axle stub. They kind of hinted at my lift causeing binding that would not release it. They said they called GM tech they said that the only other option is to drop the fronnt diff and split tit to get to it from behind. Now I dont have any noise or vibration. Just a mnior leak. My truck is a 2002 ECSB D/A with 4 inch rancho lift.

Thanks Guys,

Happens every once & a while- 2 things, try hitting it as hard as you can with a hammer, the little lock clip on the axel spline is probably sprung & wedged into the housing. Second option, remove the differential and split the case as they said. Any questions post message me.

as Pat said, seems to happen once and a while. I would make sure its not the vent leaking before going through all that trouble. Lift has nothing to do with anything.

I checked the vent but if the vent itself was cloged or block would that force it out the seals I was going to get the white nvent and try that first. thank you guys for answering my question

not looking so much for a clog...but that the vent itself is loose and leaking through the threads. Very common mistaken for left side seal leak

not looking good for me i am 99.999% sure its the drive shaft seal. How hard is it to remove the stub axle from the inside since it looks to be unmovable from the outside. Also what should I be careful with?? Is there any thing else that I should replace while I have the diff pulled and open?? thanks again guys for your help. Also someone else on another forums said that these leak and it is not worth replacing what do u suggest? I am for replacing it

I use a crow bar or a hammer. Very strange design but that's what it takes. You basically knock the thing out.

When it finally pops out what you see is a snap ring that is just a loose retainer.
