: Considering a new LBZ Dooley
kongdually 07-11-2006, 12:50 AM I've been kicking around getting a new truck, as my 98 Dodge is getting tired after reaching 270000 miles. I really like the new LBZ, and it seems to kick the new Dodge's butt. I have always been a chevy man, but am having a hard time pulling the trigger on new purchase. I pull a 32' Cardinal 5ver, and sure could use the extra power. Just wanting you guys to convince me that I need the new chevy, and retire my old dually... thanks for the help guys....Kong

ABQFirefighter 07-11-2006, 10:35 AM Do it! I almost bought one from a dealer on Ebay a few weeks ago. It was a Chevy dealer in Illinois(?) and they had an brand new '06 fully loaded dually for $42K. Hard to pass up, but I had to. Just think, buy the new truck and it will last you for another 270K! Good luck!

kongdually 07-13-2006, 03:19 AM After driving a few of the new trucks, and reading all the positive feedback from you guys, I found myself in the dealership today, talking new truck. If all goes well, I should have a shiney new baby in the garage before the weekend. I go on vacation week after next, so I need to hurry and get the hitch switched over, and all ready to pull the camper..thanks for all the info guys, it's been very helpfull.....Kong
vietvet66-67 07-13-2006, 09:02 AM I hope the camper is a lite model. Book say's you shouldn't pull for 500 miles.
Some guy's here say it's ok, but book does not. If you do, don't push it to
hard. Good luck with it.
duramex 07-13-2006, 09:37 AM just dooooooooo iiiitttttttt

Well, the camper weighs in at about 13000 lbs. but I figure I will have the 500 miles on it in time. Truck has a little over 100 miles on it now, and I drive 350 miles a week to work and back, and you know I won't let the truck sit still over the weekend, so I'm sure I'll be ready for the first tow. Thanks for the info and concern tho.. I just can't wait to tow with this truck. Kong
gun5l1ng3r 07-13-2006, 12:18 PM Make sure you change you Differential fluid when you get back from the trip!
billyohl 07-13-2006, 02:03 PM Also keep in mind that the book also states to not exceed 50 MPH first 500 miles while towing after the initial 500 mile break-in period.
kongdually 07-20-2006, 01:36 AM Well, I'm no longer considering a dooley...but only because I finally got one. My dealer looked for 5 days to find an ext. cab dooley for me. In a 200 mile radius, he found 3 and nobody would dealer trade so I finally decided to get a Crew. Got 250 miles on it now, and it's a great truck. Just trying to get a few hundred more miles on in time for it's first tow this weekend. Thanks for all the help and convincing me to get rid of the old Dodge. I don't think I will ever regret it..Kong
Timetraveler 07-20-2006, 07:50 AM Kongdully,
Yep, extended cabs are scarce! The salesman here in SE FL hunted all over for one for us and the nearest one he could find (with the stuff I wanted) was in SC! There were a few others but dealers wouldn't trade so we bought a CC. That extra 8" or so is no problem. It's just wifey and me so we folded the rear seats down, put a nice rug over them, and use the area as a trunk.
