While at the dealer this morning I noticed some trucks had yellow shocks but most had black, The black ones are said to be made by Gabriel and the yellow ones ( with blue cover) are supposedly made by Monroe. If true it will beinteresting to see which is the better.

If they were half tons, I recall hearing that the Z71's came with Bilstein shocks.


I don't know who makes the black ones but if anyone finds out for sure, let us know so nobody makes the mistake of buying replacements from them!

The black ones are made by Tenneco Automotive. They make Monroe and Rancho as far as shocks go.

All items mentioned above are correct. The black shocks I removed from my 04 Dmax were made by Tenneco and replaced them with Bilsteins!!


The yellow and blue shocks that came on my 03 Chevy K1500 Z71 were Bilsteins.
