: LLY Performance! Anybody know of ANYTHING???
GrooveCityFlexin 05-14-2004, 11:01 AM I got a 2004 Duramax with the LLY motor. But I want some more power. Does anyone know where I can get some. Nobody makes anything for it yet that I have found http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif And I'm getting tired of waiting. I want something switchable because I pull a few heavy boats. But when I'm not I want to be able to push it upwards of 200hp+ I already have all the gauges installed. I'm running 38 inch tires I want some power to turn them hogs!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif
Anyone tried propane on a duramax yet? Wondering if its worth the $$$
Kennedy 05-14-2004, 08:04 PM Propane is about it for readily available mods. The programmers/modules are still being revised and tested. Hell, the LB7 modules are still being refined. I'd suggest waiting a bit on the module deal as the first releases will definitely NOT be final drafts if history repeats...
CPMac 05-14-2004, 08:36 PM I spent all day today (except for the 1 1/2 hours at hooters) driving the new Quad LLy module. It's absolutely great on the ZF 6 trucks as well as the Allison's. It was very smooth and never had a stumble or surge, it was also very quiet. I do have to recommend a tranny upgrade if using the high setting. We ran the six speed truck more than the Allison so of course the Allison didn't get time to adjust to the power yet. The first setting is absolutely awsome on the Allison, it's just the way GM should have sent them out, it really takes the sluggish start away and makes it good and smooth. If anyone has any questions or wants to get one let me know.
2002bolt 05-18-2004, 08:00 AM If you want a drop in filter the box is the same as most newer trucks. Go on KN filters website, there are like 60 cars that have the same size air box. The part number is 33-2135. http://www.knfilterchargers.com/search/applications.aspx?Prod=33-2135
McRat 05-18-2004, 11:12 AM I've run ~1000mi on the TTS Powerloader for the LLY. 500mi towing 8,000lb in 90-100 degree heat up and down mountains. Runs sweet. Other than going much faster, you can't tell the truck is not bone stock.
CPMac 05-18-2004, 12:00 PM Mcrat what is the max egt's so far while towing?
McRat 05-18-2004, 01:24 PM No gauges yet. When I get gauges, I'll post temps.
It's a 50rwhp tune, so I doubt the temps will be too far out of line.
speedfreak 05-18-2004, 02:34 PM You should see stock temps......kinda scary. I guess what do you expect when you can only get 20psi of boost in 5th gear?
CPMac 05-18-2004, 03:14 PM I see McRat. I noticed in your sig your truck was a beta test unit and figured it would have gauges. I haven't been in a LLy truck with gauges either.
GrooveCityFlexin 05-18-2004, 03:44 PM i'm getting ready to pick mine up later this week from getting the lift and tires installed. and i'm getting all the gauges installed in hope of one day there will be some sort of after market power pushing another 200hp+ out of my motor http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif. i'll let you know what the stock levels are next week. i'm sure it'll run a lil hotter with 38 inch tires. anybody know what i can do to recalibrate my speedo until something comes out??
cjordan 05-18-2004, 03:58 PM anybody know what i can do to recalibrate my speedo until something comes out??
Buy a handheld GPS and go see how far off your speedo is.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Ray403Dmax 05-18-2004, 06:56 PM I'm not sure I believe it yet, but some are claiming the LLY won't allow as much modified power as the LB7. Guess time will tell.

I donot believe makeing power is going to be an issue. The only difference is you start out alittle higher than the LB7 did. Since The Allision is the same basic unit it will begin to fail at the same place as before. They seem to hold around 550 ft/lbs at the rear tires OK but when you get 60,000 miles on them they start to have trouble pulling loads at those power levels, so a transmission upgrade will be needed at some point.
Ray403Dmax 05-18-2004, 10:45 PM That's good news, thanks for the info!
Kennedy 05-20-2004, 11:57 AM K&S Fuel injection is having a dyno day Saturday. See Events forum.
I will have LLY module(s) on hand for trial use on the dyno for this event. Might even have a Juice!http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif
I'll also have a pretty good selection of Edge/Quad/Van Aaken stuff for the LB7 as well as some of the Ford/Dodge stuff.
