: More Injector Warranty BS
DURYMCGEE 07-07-2006, 10:46 PM Took my truck to the dealership cause my truck smells of fuel, and there is fuel in my oil, so I figured injectors, return rates verified it. I get to talking with the service manager and he tells me that they will not be covered under warranty, my truck only has 68k miles on it. He explains to me that GM parts only carry a 12 month 12k mile warranty, therefore my first set which was done at 53k miles is the only set that is covered, after that im SOL.
I said BS, he agreed so he called the GM service rep for our area, he said the same thing.
So I tried another dealer, which told me the same thing.
There is no way in hell I am gonna pay $4,000+ to have my injectors done again to just fail.
This is BS, but it seems without going dealer to dealer until I find one that doenst check its history there is nothing I can do, unless someone out there knows what to do?
Thanks
MAtt
maulcruiser 07-07-2006, 11:10 PM The 12,000 mo/12,000 mile warranty is what I've read on here also.
RickDLance 07-07-2006, 11:13 PM I think they have to satify the original warranty first and foremost. I hate to say this, but get a lawyer!
DURYMCGEE 07-07-2006, 11:25 PM That is what I said, they have a 200,000 mile warranty, I am under by over 130,000, so what is wrong? I just dont understand.
1498 TC HET OPERATOR 07-07-2006, 11:52 PM Keep researching. I thought the motor had 100K-200K warranty coverage. Good Luck.
srode 07-08-2006, 06:51 AM Mention 4 simple words, they will replace them. Magnoson Moss Warranty Act. If it doesn't get them moving, call a consumer law attorney, they will surely take the case at no cost to you, the dealer and GM will lose, and pay the bill. I used an attorney based in Chicago when I had problems and was living in Ohio with a different vehicle. It took about a month to resolve at most, but more complicated case. Yours is simple, should be resolved in a couple weeks.
problemchild 07-08-2006, 07:04 PM Federal Law states all smog items (and injectors are under smog items) are covered for 100k.
But GM has a mandate for 01,02 trucks that state your under warranty for 200k.
jwfab1 07-08-2006, 07:41 PM Smog items in CA is only 50,000. Had my cat's replaced on a ferd and thankful the smog guy told me about the state warrantee. I was about to shell out $800. Ferd covered them and even gave the smog certificate, no questions asked.
michael nelson 07-08-2006, 07:59 PM sounds like the KEY is the MMWA...why do stealers play this stupid game?...another reason why this PLACE is the key to telling THEM about stuff, they already know, but act like "they never heard this one" before-if it was not for TSB's I found on this place the dealer would have never known-go figure-
ShumDit 07-09-2006, 12:58 AM Seen a thread somewhere that 'replacement' injectors have a lifetime warranty as indicated in GM parts list.
Timmy2500 07-09-2006, 01:35 AM Truck is 3yr/36,000 normal Duramax has a seperate Warrenty 5yr/100,000mi Warrenty from factory! mine is an 05 but shouldent matter my buddys is a 02 and he has had 2 sets changed 1st set at 42,000 nxt at 75,000 Hope this helps..
Haulinbass02 07-09-2006, 01:37 AM Dealer is just playing you. My dad is on his 3rd set of injectors on his '03. The dealer actually has replaced all three sets under warranty even though the third set was technically out of warranty (for '03 the extension of the injector warranty was different)
Call around to other dealers and find out what is going on or call GM directly and they will straighten them out, the local dealer rep or GM rep is only going to back up the dealer until the General himself gets involved and I guarantee you that GM will uphold their end of the deal.
DURYMCGEE 07-09-2006, 10:35 AM I think Im just gonna get them done tommorow, I need my truck back on the road. Im gonna play dumb till they try to bill me, then its on.
DURYMCGEE 07-11-2006, 12:29 PM I dropped it off at another dealer yesterday and just complained of poor power, and a friend told me that his injectors were bad in his so that may be wrong with mine, just played dumb.
So they call me this morning and say 1 and 8 are bad, they are just gonna replace those 2. Oh and that will be around $1400. I called BS and said the freakin injectors have a 200k warranty and that needs to be honored first, I was pretty pissed so the service manager said he would call GM. When he called me back he said they will cover them but there will be a $100 deductable, again I called BS and said there is some TSB that says they are free, he said show me kinda rudely so now I have to find it, I am gonna search for it but if anyone knows the # off the top of their head do tell.
Also becuase they have to go in on each bank I want all 8 replaced, they are telling me they can only do the 2 that are bad, unless I want to fork over the money for the other 6, anyone know how to get them to do it?
duramaxdavid 07-11-2006, 12:35 PM Also becuase they have to go in on each bank I want all 8 replaced, they are telling me they can only do the 2 that are bad, unless I want to fork over the money for the other 6, anyone know how to get them to do it?
Im not for sure but they shouldnt need to replace all 8. As long as the balance reates are all withen spec it shouldnt matter.
Cheyenne19 07-11-2006, 12:44 PM i think the tsb states that they HAVE to replace all eight
Chevy454 07-11-2006, 07:29 PM DURYMCGEE:
check the post below (by Mad4aMax)...I had to show our dealer the TSB be as well, as they told me they were just replacing 1 or 2 and that *I* was gonna pay for 'em...anyway, print off the TSB and throw it on the service manager's desk...
Duramax Injector TSB (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1147121&postcount=9)
DURYMCGEE 07-11-2006, 07:36 PM I called and gave them that TSB #, they said well look into it, I dont think they like it when I tell em what to do...
srode 07-11-2006, 10:05 PM Make sure you let them know what you think of the run around when you get the satisfaction survey from GM on the repair.
Mad4aMax 07-12-2006, 12:48 AM -Durymcgee, if you actually do have fuel in the oil than it is covered under special policy 04039 which is covered @ no charge!
In the TSB listed above printed in red it states
Important: This labor operation listed below is covered by emissions and is not subject to the $100.00 deductible. Dealer’s will need to use the following information when submitting claims on vehicles still covered under that warranty:
2001-2002 Model Year vehicles may be covered by Special Policy Number 04039. Please refer to Special Policy Number 04039 before submitting any warranty claims
Mad4aMax 07-12-2006, 12:49 AM It feels good to be right doesn't it durymcgee? especially when it saves you big$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
DURYMCGEE 07-12-2006, 12:54 AM Yea saving me big money, I wonder how many suckers go in there and get screwed by these dealers and dont know it?
I called and told them to look up special policy 04039, mostly to get all 8 done, the $100 bux doesnt worry me I know I can get that taken care of
jholly 07-12-2006, 01:45 AM Yea saving me big money, I wonder how many suckers go in there and get screwed by these dealers and dont know it?

after the 36k bumper-to-bumper warranty, the 100k engine warranty does carry a $100 deductable. This is what they are probably thinking about.

mightyvh 07-12-2006, 08:53 AM Whether they replace all 8 or just the bad one(s) is based on what is wrong with the injector. What my dealer told me is that fuel in oil or excessive return rate etc they replace all 8 under the TSB. If its just a wear issue - one or 2 injectors out of specs on the balance rate they are only suppose to do the bad ones. However, he said that once they get the valve covers etc off they prefer to do all or at least the 4 on that side depending on the situation.....I don't know anything about how the warranty works with multiple failures other then there are a number on here who have had all 8 replaced more then once. I gotta believe they'd cover it
Mad4aMax 07-13-2006, 12:17 AM -Mightyvh your dealer is correct!
DURYMCGEE 07-13-2006, 09:33 AM There was fuel in my oil so thats why I am pressing to have all 8 done, my dealer is not agreeing with me. Everytime I call they put me to voicemail, so I leave a message asking for them to call me, I've left 4 messages in the last 3 days and nothing. I may just have to go in.
luvthesmellofdiesel 07-13-2006, 10:34 AM According to the TSB if there's fuel in the oil, you should get all 8 replaced. Find a new dealer fast and remember who not to buy a new vehicle from as well ensure you pass your story on to all your friends etc.

DURYMCGEE 07-13-2006, 03:46 PM Well went to pick it up after they finally called me back, they told me they only replaced 2 injectors because that TSB has already been applied to my truck, I said it does not say any where in the TSB that it is only good for 1 time use...
Also they got me for the $100, they said the special policy has also already been applied to my truck, I argued that one for 20 minutes, its a freakin emmissions item, there is no deductible. I had to leave and needed my truck back, I AM going to get my $100 back, its not about the money, its the principal.
I know this is full of $h!t, I just need some ammo to go back with, man I am so pissed, I was liking this dealer, I have yet to find a dealer in my area that doesnt try to screw you every chance they get.
Timmy2500 07-13-2006, 03:59 PM to my knowlege on the LB7's if 1 inj is bad they need to repalce the whole side and are not required to replace all 8 however if there was fuel in you oil they should reapir all 8. in the LLY's and newer they had changed somthing so they now only have to replace the one that is faulty
DURYMCGEE 07-13-2006, 06:38 PM Super, drove it home I thought it was running kinda crappy, turned it off and went to restart, wont start. Looks like it lost prime.
icer97 07-13-2006, 06:54 PM That sucks! Keep us posted, im interested to see how this comes out.
DURYMCGEE 07-13-2006, 07:43 PM I called em up, they said we cant tow it until tommorow, I cant wait that long so I checked the fuel filter, it looked new so I took it off and checked the o ring, everything looked good, I put it back on, primed it and it fired right up. I drove it till it was hot and then parked it, it restarted just fine. Im gonna let it sit a while and see what happens.
DURYMCGEE 07-15-2006, 09:42 AM Turned out to be a cracked injector line, Im getting it back this am
MaxFarmer 07-15-2006, 02:14 PM another $100? :)
DURYMCGEE 07-15-2006, 08:33 PM Nope got my original $100 back though, they made me feel like I was stealing from them.
I still dont think it runs right, it is still using alot of fuel
